Just started yesterday. The noise only happens while turning the wheel. If I turn the wheel and hold it, there is no noise. When the wheel is not being turned there is no noise. I even tried revving the engine and nothing. From what I understand the power steering noise should be constant. I can feel it in the steering wheel, however it's not hard to turn at all. If i could describe the feeling when it happens, it's just a slight vibration. Think grainy instead of smooth, but not any more resistance. The sound is not very loud, and rather low pitched. Sounds like when you rub your finger on a desk. Obviously my first thought is power steering. However I have a feeling it might be a suspension component, or maybe steering column rubbing against the plastic/rubber seal at the firewall.

Definitely not the pump. I think it's one of the suspension components so I hosed down the steering shaft at the firewall from both the interior and engine bay. Also did the sway bar end links and in the hat area of my coil overs the best I could. Had the fiance get in and turn the wheel back and forth with standing at the front bumper and no more noise. It's really hard to hunt down sounds with cams and or/x pipe. Hopefully this is the last of it, although Ive had sounds return after a few days before.
