When crankcase gases get re-introduced to you air fuel charge it makes it not burn as well, lowering the octane, increasing chance of detonation.

If you have ever changed out your charge motion plates for the delete plates you will see how burned the stock ones are from the blow-by. I empty mine every oil change and get problably 4 or 5 tablespoons of oil out. I have the Stef's setup FTW~

Not to mention it gunks up your intercooler if you have a SC, and that inhibits the intercooler from doing its job properly.

Since most if not all of us added the catch can later...do you think the intercooler will self clean or should we by taking our intake manifolds apart to clean them out?

I was wondering about that myself. I wonder if shooting a can of gumout carb cleaner or seafoam through it would clean it, AND not cause any damage.

Thoughts anyone?

i would think that running a can or two of carb cleaner through it while running (at part throttle say 40% or so) should clean up the inter coolers great. Would it be better to remove the charger and then remove the inter coolers and clean them out of the car sure, but i bet that running a can or two through would get most of it.

Would this foul up the plugs at all?

Plus with my S/C (M90), the PCV hose connects to pre-supercharger. I understand the blades/screws of the supercharger are coated with some type of finish (not sure what it is), wouldn't the carb cleaner react or damage that finish/treatment?

I've Fabricated a breather for the pass side, [leak proof] and an oil seperator on the driver side. After 3000 mi approx 1oz in sep and zero residue in the intake. Sheeeeesh, what was Ford thinking with a closed crank case syst? Yeah I know....EPA BS.

Air is drawn into the engine on the PS and drawn out into the intake on the DS.
NA cars anyway.
So you need the separator on the DS only.
A bigger can with a filter separator is a better idea then my little one which fills up fairly quickly.
More blow-by will of course make things fill up even faster so you FI people have an even bigger issue to deal with; and different causes too.
Now if someone was to give me a blower I might come up with something.
I have often considered pulling the valve cover and putting a baffle in it.
But then I get lazy and watch TV instead...

The stock valve covers already have baffles, or some similar device, which is why there's no PCV valve on stock engines.

I really like the unit from UPR, but it pisses me off that they charge $100 for a fairly simple part, but on top of that they want $10 shipping.
