The Steeda mounts are garbage. If you pull the "through bolt" to either adjust the height of unbolt the motor mount the entire thing comes apart and parts fall into the K-Member. Dumbest thing I have ever seen.

Prothane FTW.

Install it once, using whatever spacer config you want, then forget about it. I wanted a 1/4" eng drop, that's it. No more, no less. You can't go too low anyway, or you will hit the steering shaft.

OP, which motor mount did you end up purchasing? I am in a similar situation. I have noticed some contact between my JBA shorties and the frame on the passenger side after some road racing events so I think it is time to go to a stiffer mount. I had a BMR k-member in the past and did not like the added NVH from that setup.

I had prothanes in the car for a couple days, I think they raised the engine and that caused binding, my biggest issue regarding vibration etc was letting the clutch out you could feel the whole car shudder it was terrible, the other issue was on the highway I had what can only described as a resonance.
I took them out as part of troubleshooting bad gears but probably would have anyways.
Does anyone make an option between stock and poly? BMR can you make me ones with your new elastomer?

Love my steeda mounts, easy install, durable, look good, etc..

This.

When I installed my JBA LT's and mating JBA high flow catted H, it was suggested by JBA to install STEEDA HD eng mounts at the same time as the LT install. Install em once, then forget about it. There is no NVH, and eng is a lot more rigid. If you have a shaker hood, it won't shake. The steeda HD mounts are one helluva lot better than the oem mounts.

So looks like the Steedas are the way to go unless BMR would offer a lower durometer bushing.

Or you could get the BMRs which should have a similar durometer to the Steeda and save yourself $40 ;).

At this point in time, we don't have any plans to offer a lower durometer bushing for our motor mounts.

Steeda mounts come with 2 durometer bushings. Although I do not know the durometer on either bushing. My only hesitation with the BMR mounts is my experience with the mounts on your tubular k member. It was too harsh for me and I removed the k-member.

Then you probably won't like Steeda mounts either. Their kit comes with red bushings which I imagine are similar (if not the same durometer) as the red bushings included in our K-members and motor mounts and a higher durometer competition bushing. If you didn't like the K-member, keep stock mounts.

There is a big difference between what gets transmitted from a set of Prothanes and what you feel with a K member. The K member is harsh imo. Prothanes aren't.

I also only ran my k member for a short while before putting the stock one back on. I still run Prothane motor mounts though.

I've had the prothanes in for a few years now, I really didn't notice the extra vibration, it was little if anything. What I like about the prothanes was the reduction in rocking of the engine which tended to loosen up my silicone connectors on my intercooler pipe with the Vortech AA kits.

I ended up with the prothanes since I wanted to stay stock height. Just got them installed today and they definitely aren't as harsh as the BMR k member I had. My problem is like yours. It seems that the prothanes are taller than stock. My Saleen supercharger is now touching my firewall and rubbing. Now I need to take them back off and have them shortened....great.

Thanks, but I would rather just fix these. Don't understand why they are taller than stock. Makes no sense. I also weighed the stock mount and prothane mount if anyone was interested. 3 lb 12.4oz for stock, 1 lb 8.7 oz for the prothane.

Have you guys considered CHE or Ingalls torque arms?

It would help with the engine movement and retain the stock hydrobushings.

I'm considering the Ingalls as it uses mini "shocks".

I know what you mean, as it doesn't make sense to me either.. IIRC JDM shortens the regular prothane mounts, but not quite sure what method they use

Any time you go to a stiffer mount you're gonna get more vibration. If you don't like it stick with the OEM hydrobushing things. ...

So why would someone NEED to replace the mounts? If you are using the stock k frame and don't have to change the motor height, do they fail at certain power level?

Your motor wants to roll over like a dog playing dead after you start adding larger hp, it also helps transfer the power faster and harder to the drive train for quicker launches.

I've had the upr motor mounts and che torque limiters for over two years now. No outstanding vibrations or annoying noises here. Just smooth shifting and a quarter inch lower engine.

FWIW, I have a BMR K-member with the red bushings for motor mounts, and the NVH difference from stock is barely noticeable. In fact, my wife didn't even notice until I told her what I had installed. And even then she said she couldn't really tell a difference.
