Goodmorning gentlemen. I am pretty sure I will be pulling the trigger on a paxton tuner kit today. I have a 2012 GT with 35,000 miles. The car is fairly stock and I have always ran amsoil in it. I've had nightmares with the MT-82, and luckily ford has replaced it under warranty once. Also, I have had no engine issues. I would eventually like to be around 800 rwhp. This car is about to be pulled off the street as a daily driver.

Obviously, I will want to throw more and more boost at this thing and am wondering what to look out for down the road. Now to my understanding, there is really no preset #'s on these things as to when they will go kaboom, so I am just going to assume that mine eventually will. However, I do not have the time currently to tear my motor down or the space inside my shop.

My question is, can I just go ahead and pick up a forged rotating assembly from my vendor and wait? Will that be enough to repair things if they go south? When the rods bend and piston melt on these, are they completely trashing the blocks?

My next question is about the MT-82. I figure I will eventually need to go automatic. By the time I've gone that far, this car will not be driven on the street much, if at all. I understand the A6 is an awesome unit, but, my team and transmission team are not familiar with them. Has anyone put a TH400 behind these coyotes? I HAVE searched for this to no avail. My transmission guy, (mostly a chevy racer), told me we could do it with a standalone operating system.

Question number 3 is, would it be in my best financial interest to wait until the stock 8.8 grenades and then go to a 9", or go ahead and build the 8.8?

Question 4, with the MT-82 for now, are the 3.73's to low of a gear for the centri set up? I have searched and seen most guys going with 3.31 or 3.55. However, most of them I read about were running the A6.

Thanks a lot guys. I DID UTILIZE THE SEARCH FUNCTION OF THIS FORUM, GOOGLE, YOUTUBE, YAHOO, MM&FF. HOWEVER, I DID NOT FIND SPECIFIC ANSWERS

Pardon me if any of these questions are ignorant, my racing experience and modifying experience comes from my past of building powerstroke diesels, so I am not as knowledgeable about the mustangs.

There is always a chance of damaging the block when a piston or rod goes. If you have the time to swap them out now, you'll be better in the long run.

As far as the 8.8, it's a very stout piece, on a manual, a better carrier with 33 or 35 spline axles would be more than enough for that power level,

If you swap to an auto, just makes things easier on the driveline.

we are still running 31 splines in our car going mid 8's at 167mph.

Gearing, you'll just have to play with and see what you like.

If you need any help with the purchase of the Paxton, we'll get you dialed in no problem. I am the #1 Paxton / Vortech Mustang dealer out there!

800 rwhp is probably going to be hell on a stock engine. Also, I have 3.73s on a M6 and it's fun, but not very usable. I say go with 3.31s or 3.27s. Is it going to be a track car?

I second that, I only had 620 rwhp or so on my Paxton with an M6 and 3.73's and I never used first gear. I always started in 2nd unless I was at the track on radials or slicks. First gear with 3.73's is useless. 3.31 or taller is where you should be at if you want first gear to be useful at all.

I will 3rd this.. 3.73 on 11 and my mt-82 and it was usles when wot in 1st and 2nd on street tires. On my M&H racemasters it was a different story, But first gear is so short and goes quick. I was at 640rwhp.

And a th400 has been done with success also a 4r70w is another option when looking at a auto swap track car and occasional street car.

I have 3:31's and the MT 82 on 600+ hp....I DD mine and absolutey love it...not sure why your looking for 800 + unless your looking for a track car ...seriously 600-650 rwhp on these cars is good for 10 sec quarters and reliable and fun to drive on the street for a stock block 5.0
