I searched on PMAS and found some discussions suggesting that their CAI yields good results, but I am curious if anyone has swapped out the Steeda 101mm for the PMAS 120mm CAI. To be even more specific, after also swapping out the intake manifold for a 2018 (Gen3) version. The car is Lund tuned and the data logs show that things are working well as tuned, i.e. knock sensors, fuel trims, spark advance, etc. I guess I was hoping for an improvement in 1/4-mile ETs, but I haven't seen it yet. I am using 6800 - 7000 RPM for shift points, but perhaps I need to move up to 7000 - 7200 RPM to take advantage of the Gen3 intake manifold.

The car has 73,000 miles on it and about 2000 miles on the Exedy Mach 500 Stage I clutch (which is working great). I am running 275/60R15 drag radials with the MT-82 and a 3.73 axle ratio. I have managed some 1.7x 60 ft times, but mid 1.8x is more typical, depending on the launch RPM (3500 - 4500).

As an update to this question, although Lund wholly endorses PMAS products, one of their tuners discouraged me from replacing the Steeda CAI with the PMAS CAI, given that I am not experiencing any issues with the current setup. He did not feel there has any significant performance gains to be had. I appreciate the honest feedback from Lund, because they are turning away an opportunity to sell me an updated tune.

And bigger is not necessarily better. A larger diameter intake may flow more air but one has to consider the reduced velocity as having a performance factor also.

Intake and throttle body have to be matched to head and valve flow. Basic engine building 101.

Also don’t forget the exhaust.

Engine is a simple air pump…
