Looking to purchase a Portable air compressor or an air tank so I can refill my DR's after a night of racing and drive home without swapping my tires back.

The portable pump unit looks to be less hassle and easier to use and lightweight. A portable air tank would have to be filled and lugged around.

This is the portable unit I was looking at. It has received good reviews and seems to be able to fill a tire in about 2 minutes. I have seen it on amazon for $45 with free shipping to Hawaii.

Air tank would cost more than double shipped to Hawaii.

Any thoughts?

From the track? Every track I've ever gone to have a air compressor for racers to use.

Small compressor would be my suggestion.

No air at my track. Everybody brings all their own stuff. Sears has a 5 gallon tank for $32. Am leaning towards the CIG lighter compressor.

My local track has a compressor but it's out of order about half the time. I had the stock Ford emergency compressor in the trunk (Bullitts don't come with a spare tire) and that POS died the very first time I used it. I now have a 5 gallon air tank and it will barely get both rear tires to 28-30 lbs after running about 17-18 at the track. If you go with an air tank get the bigger one.

Since getting the trailer I just load up the car and bring it home. A lot less hassle than driving home on under inflated track tires.

Viair compressors are good. I prefer the bigger ones, but that's for airing up 4 off-road tires from as low as 8 psi. The smaller compressor is fine if you aren't in a big hurry. Just keep in mind that if it runs too long, it can overheat and shut down.

.

Good to know that a 5 gallon tank is probably too small. I had no idea if it was.
