I have an 05 Roush with the rectangular tips and Roush rear facia. I am really limited in aftermarket muffler choices since my tips do not come out were most GT's do. The replacement Roush offroad mufflers (Borla stingers) are like $550 a pair. I have looked at the Roush extreme (mid muffler) system at like $580. Then there is the Pypes mid muffler system at around $380. Looks identical to the Roush system. I found a seller on CL with a new pypes setup for $175..!
If I get it I will have to cut off a portion of the tailpipes and have a muffler shop put in some bent pipe and put my rectangular tips on the end and get it all lined up with the Roush cutouts. I already am running a Pypes O/R X with the stock Roush street legal mufflers. It is louder now but I'm not crazy about the tone of them. I'm sure the mid mufflers with the o/r x is gonna be super loud. I could always replace the x with my factory cat pipes to quiet it down later.

here's a video of my car with pypes mid muffler and frpp shorty headers with stock cats.
it sounds lourder then it is as it's in an enclosed area but at idle you can't really hear it all that much but at wot the thing just roars to life. it has a little bit of drone but nothing too bad. i love the system its perfect.

Yeah, I saw that video on youtube already....awesome sound!
How is it inside the car with the o/r x ? Do they drone like 2 chamber flowmasters?

Yes, there was some drone @ about 70mph in 5th, I won't lie, but for me it wasn't that bad I could tolerate it specially by how it sounded at WOT.

I removed them because I really disliked how they trumpeted once the turbo kit went in, I installed MBRPs (awesome built mufflers) with the pypes still in and it was the weirdest sounding mustang ever, it sounded like a Ducati 1098 at full throttle low rpms.

Now I have just the MBRPs and is quite better and no trumpetting.

It will never sound as good as it was but what can I do. For me, no single turbo will ever sound good, twins with an X OTOH...

I have the kit and love it...Bought it almost 2 yrs ago...Was a bitch to install and line up like other Pypes products but I love the sound...They are also great in terms of CS....One of the pipes had a cracked hanged weld and I called them in the morning it was at my front door the next day...Coast to Coast can't complain...

Mine was too loud with with cams and an o/r x pipe. Got the attention of local law enforcement. Ended up having to put the stock h back in. It sounded wicked, but Ive never been happy with the fitment. No matter what I do it always rattles and squeaks. I've changed clamps, moved things around, but it didn't help. one of the hangers also rubs against the bracket and squeaks as well when going over bumps. I'm switching to flowmaster 40's and putting the x pipe back in a few days.

Do you mean the o/r x? If so you might want to re-think that as o/r x and flows sound extremely raspy unless that is the sound you want.

Fits like crap but sounds good. What I would do is buy the pypes m-80 mufflers and just have someone weld them in the stock over axle pipes in front of the rear end.

I bought the m80 mufflers off of summit racing site for $41 each. Gonna cut em in to get rid of the trumpeting I have.

I also have read a lot about how the entire system fits like shit. Cheaper to just splice em in.

Well the pypes mid muffler kit is on the way....only 200 miles on it. For those who say the fitment sucks, do they tend to rattle or touch the body? Since I installed the Pypes o/r x, I have a rattle thats driving me bonkers! The only place that is close is at the pass side band clamp at the x pipe/stock tailpipe connection. It is close to the stock steel driveshaft loop..if thats what it is.
