Racecraft Mods, Pictures and Dyno: My turn!

Alright, finally got around to posting some pictures. There was a car show this weekend and I was lucky enough to get everything ready for it. I ordered the radiator extensions and (because I had hear Midwest isn't the best at color matching) had a friend paint them for me. On top of that, I ordered the Chicane strut brace and had the brackets color matched as well. I like a very clean, OEM looking engine bay. Just for kicks, I had him paint the airbox cover, which came out exceptionally good. Oh, and I had a nice little plaque made up for the rad support cover space. Enjoy!

While at the show, I put the car on a mobile Dynojet. In the hot heat this Saturday, the car made 373HP, 377TQ SAE to the wheels. I know Mike on here dyno'd at 393HP but his was STD, not SAE. STD is always 4% higher do to the correction factor. With that 4%, we are pretty close. Pretty consistant tune on our cars I'd say. I was pretty happy nonetheless. All uphill from here in terms of power!

The HP is actually right on track with the tune. Remember the Racecrafts are "420" from the crank, supposedly. With a 12% drivetrain loss, 373HP is 420HP at the crank. The Racecrafts had the 475HP kit in them: Blue Ford 39# injectors, airbox, and pulley. The only difference is that they're detuned. I think it was Saleen's way of selling you a car at much less price than the S281 SC. They're had to be some catch otherwise why wouldn't you just go for the Racecraft. Thats my opinion. I was told with a retune it will put down 390ish HP SAE. Next winter we'll see what I really do!

Edit: Also, the car is rated at 400TQ crank. I put down 377TQ(roughly 430Wheel TQ) so thats not too shabby. Again, the Racecraft is supposed to be conservative.

Edit 2: If it does any justice, one guy dyno'd his 435HP Saleen equiped mustang last year with bigger throttle body and intake and full exhaust and only put down 365. So i win! ha.

LOL I did not know much about racecraft, i just saw a supercharger and tougth everyone with anykit is usually over or around 450 haha

Yea, its easily good for that, just very conservative from the factory. It is built by Saleen, but like I said they detune it. Pretty sweet car tho: got alot of the saleen additions minus the body work. Doesn't cost a fortune b/c its not serialized. And to be frank, I paid the same price for it as a GT Premium b/c of the time frame I bought it(Recession ftl except when buying a car).

curious about the paint everyone does on the radiator cover... is it just regular car paint or some kind of high temp paint? will regular car paint survive under there just fine?

and oh, the car looks great jeep... those radiator extensions really look great.

Thanks. To answer your paint question, that is FORD Vista Blue G9 paint. It is the real deal. The secret to getting to tolerate the heat is the elasticity. Now, I'm not a painter, but this is not my first engine bay I've gotten painted. A good painter will be able to give the paint enough flex so that is can withstand the heat. Let me tell you, when you showed me the end product, I questioned too if it would last. He took the rad cover and literally bent it a bunch and the paint didn't even hesisitate. He's very good and I'm sure you can find more like him out there.

Here's a picture from my last car. To give you an idea, the turbo on that car is directly to the rear of the engine b/t the engine and firewall. That engine covered used to hit some high temps because of it. The first time it was done, it didn't have enough flex and cracked when I painted it. The second time it was done right and had that one for months. My buddy has it on his car currently and no problems.

Yes, pretty low production. From what I hear, their may have been only something like 27 made in 2008 and less in 2009 (don't quote me). Not sure if its entirely true, but I think their may only be a few vista blues too. I think Red, black and white were more common of the 27. I added a spec list in the second post and my additions. ...it's the low boost, Non-IC FRPP/Whipple kit. It's suppose to put down 400hp at the flywheel and mine put down 393rwhp, which is some where around 450 flywheel hp, then ran out of fuel. I literally have the GT500 fuel pump kit sitting next to me now and should have the FRPP/Whipple IC system otw sometime next week... so the numbers should be some where north of 460rwhp before the summer is out.
