well they did it... charged me with manslaughter, 50k bond. I bonded out tonight. So how many of you who used to post in the kills section ever thought this might happen to you? FML, I am married with 2 kids and was going to get dinner with my best friend in the world...my whole life is upside down now..... pray for me this works out. We have already lost two good men, now my life hangs in the balance.

Whoa! That sucks. Man keep your head up and if your story you told is true stick with it and ride it to the end.

I had a similar thing happen to me 3 years ago, I was charged with vehicular homicide. PM me if you would like to talk. You can and will get out of this. It is just their way to try and make someone held accountable even though it wasnt your fault.
First step would be to delete this thread, they will be looking for anything and everything, get rid of any video you have ever posted with your car, delete facebook and myspace if you have one. Don't leave one shred of evidence to show that you could ever have had a lack of judgement. Trust me, been here, done this

I agree delete everything! Get a good lawyer. Stick to your story never deviate from it. They will try to corner you or trap you into admitting guilt or a lapse in your story. Get the mods to help you delete your account. Best of luck to you. I will pray for you your brother and everyone involved.

Not to rain on anyone ones parade but if you have facebook and myspace you better read the terms and conditions, they own the shit you post and nothing is ever really "deleted" I do not Facebook or Myspace for that reason.

Get a good expensive lawyer and listen to them.

So sorry for your lose and troubles, justice normally prevails and there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Fight like hell for your kids and wife sake.

Godspeed

Andrew

What? I am at a loss for words. all the pain you've been through already, I can't believe this. Please get a good lawyer and see what to do. You mean a lot to us fellow board members. sell the car or anything it takes to remain free of this charge.

I am very sorry, prayers with you right now.

Also if you delete everything isn't that tampering with evidence and admission of guilt? He's being charged, he hasn't been convicted. There is a difference. Hope it works out.

Hey man I realize that this is tough but trust me when I say this stick to the truth which is your story and do not let them scare you into making a deal. Fight this shit in court if you have to but do not make a deal with those guys. If the evidence on you is beyond a reasonable doubt then talk to your lawyer about getting the best possible deal which in your case would be probation and community service. I really do think if they do find you guilty you will get simple probation for a good amount of years, license revoked until completion of probation and a SHIT load of community service hours. My sister has been through a similar case and she was all over local news and in the end she didnt want to fight even though our lawyer said she could have won so she got 5 years probation and license suspended for one year. Like people have said stick to your story, they do things like this to help the other families grieve better so the evidence on you is probably minimal so just stick to your word.

Best of luck man and do as they say delete everything.

No it is not tampering with evidence or admission of guilt. It is his property he can do with it what he wants. Plus stuff on his facebook and forums are not evidence in his case, simply can be used as a judgement of his character in court though. It is best to get rid of ANYTHING that can cast himself in a bad light.
Trust me, they will attempt to drag him through the mud, they will hunt high and low for any shred of evidence to degrade his character.
I have been through this and it will be difficult and emotional. I think the worst part of it was the jailtime until being bonded out though.
Just get rid of anything online involving your car, racing, your habits, all of it. Leave only the evidence they have from the accident.
After all, you didnt hit anybody, he did, worst you should get is aggressive driving, wreckless operation of a motor vehicle or something along those lines, you were not operating a vehicle that led to the death of ANYONE, it will not stick.
Plus they always throw a big charge out there to bring you in then they will lessen the charge later.

I am thinking the exact same thing. They can not get you for something lesser and find out you were more involved than the charges already set. This charge can not stick due to the simple fact that you operating another motor vehicle that didn't "Directly" lead to a fatality from negligence can be contributed to manslaughter.

Did they charge you with "Voluntary" or "In-Voluntary" Manslaughter? There is a big difference between the two.

This is the definition of In-Voluntary:
Generally there are two types of involuntary manslaughter: (1) criminal-negligence manslaughter; and (2) unlawful-act manslaughter. The first occurs when death results from a high degree of Negligence or recklessness, and the second occurs when death is caused by one who commits or attempts to commit an unlawful act, usually a misdemeanor.
