Again, JJ is taking all of this a bit too personally. NOBODY is making light of your injuries, and I never even mention them in my comments about your opinions. I've compressed a vertebrae as well (big off at Road Atlanta) and will have pain for the rest of my life, but being paralyzed must be horrible. I truly feel for you man, and am not trying to equate my injury with yours, just that I have been injured on track and DO NOT take my safety lightly. Not at all, and I don't know how or why you went off on that tangent???
As others have said, this "pushback" we give every time you post unusual opinions isn't about your handicap. I do know of several paralyzed drivers that are fast with hand controls, up to the Pro level. It is truly amazing what some of them can do. Yet as soon as anyone asks for your lap times or questions your judgement, you go right to playing "the card". Again, if I was in your situation I might do the same thing. It is a life altering injury that I cannot even fathom having to deal with.
A little self deprecation following your opinions such as "but hey, I'm slow" and we would let it all slide. But you don't, you get SUPER DEFENSIVE and start name calling and making these tired ad hominem personal attacks.
It is not "fun" for me to point out these failings in lap times every time you post your copious opinions. I look like a jerk, like I'm picking on you, but I'm not. And if you remember, you're the one in this back and forth who has threatened to "knock my teeth out" and other violent acts. I'm hoping someday you can look in the mirror, see what we are pointing out (results), and maybe decide to post
less about track related upgrades. It is not helping this community when you clutter up posts with reviews of somewhat useless products (Matrix Brace) and less of your fan worship of parts designers with rambling, aimless videos (Kenny Brown) that have almost no relevance to today. We do the same thing with the Steeda fanboys who brag about how many HPDE wins and "championships" Steeda drivers have in 1 car classes.
My point - and the point of several others here - is that you JJ post a LOT of opinions in this Corner Carvers sub-forum about: track worthy mods, about your testing, tire choices, and honestly your lap times are so slow as to render those opinions almost meaningless.
You choose to use skinny 20" diameter tires when many have stated this is the wrong diameter (and width) wheel to get the best performance from on track. No, your car does not HAVE to use 20" wheels, it is just what it came with for style reasons. Also, your supercharged car "never overheats" on track because you are just not going fast enough for that to happen. And your tire choices - you don't use 1st tier, or even 2nd tier 200TW tires, you are using
3rd tier brands like this Firestone.
What a strange hill to die on. The tire choices you seem to pick are baffling, and I want to make sure others don't try to go down the same rabbit hole that you seem to be chasing. Using skinny 255mm wide 20" diameter Firestone tires on track is an enormous waste of time and money with a 3700+ pound car, if people are looking for performance, lap time drops, etc.
I
am here to give honest opinions about tires (which I don't and never will sell), as we have a LOT of track time and testing over 30+ years with
hundreds of sets of tires in various compounds, widths, and diameters on the pony cars that are being discussed here. Having tested multiple sets of tires on S197s back to back to back, with instrumented, logged data, I can give some opinions that might actually have some usefulness. Having set 25+ track records in NASA, GTA, SCCA TT, and other competitions, the speed at which I am driving is not in question. We have hundreds of data overlaid track videos to show what and how we are testing, to back up these claims.
But unlike your accusations, I'm not here to "measure my johnson", and don't really care if you like my writing style, dislike the fact that I am pointing out questionable data, or even the fact that I am calling out people for dismal lap times. I am secure in my "manhood", and you keep resorting to these strange insults and debate fails. And you are NOT the only person who's opinion we question on a daily basis. I do this to a LOT of people. I know you avoid the social media pages; last time I checked I'm on 380+ motorsports pages, and daily I poke holes in a lot of dodgy theories, cast doubt on dubious claims, and ask for lap times from a lot of similar people who are giving questionable opinions - most of whom are really just looking for AFFIRMATION on their choices.
THIS IS THE BASIS FOR 90% OR MORE OF ALL INTERNET POSTS
So we are not just "picking on JJ" and this has nothing to do with his handicap, not whatsoever. Just results, or the lack thereof. We are always open to new data, but when it is wildly different than 3 decades of results have shown us, we WILL ask for lap times, videos, and results. Every single time.
Cheers,
