damn Chris, hate to see this trouble for you, hopefully the new direction will give you better results for a longer time
Unlike MMR, I have 100% confidence that the new builder will build me a bulletproof engine. I'm just hoping at least 7/8 pistons and rods are salvageable. For a paltry $300 (in comparison to the cost of JPC's heads), I'm even considering getting a new block. He's also estimating his stage 3 heads will make MUCH more power than the MMR ones. I'll take that any day.

A lot of people have been PM'ing me, emailing, even calling to see what's wrong. I appreciate everyone's concern.

It appears that the third time WAS NOT a charm and that my MMR-built engine has failed yet a third time. I suspect heads and that the lower half is for the most-part intact.

The engine will be going to JPC Racing for a complete breakdown, assembly check (per Ford Racing guidelines), diagnosis of failure, and a comparison of what MMR told me would be done (including parts used) with the engine vs what was actually done. Once I have that report, I will know what needs to be done.

MMR also accused my local engine builder (who has been building Ford motors for longer than I've been alive) of using incorrect torque specs and building the engine incorrectly. This is despite them admitting the engine failed due to faulty valves.

I am hesitant to discuss more, because I'm am strongly considering legal action. I have an incredible attorney here in Colorado who has associates who will work via proxy in the California area. I have a serious mountain of evidence via email, several ex-employees willing to testify against the company, as well the few phone conversations I got MMR to agree to allow me to record (California is a two-party consent state for recording).

I am even considering a class-action lawsuit, as MMR is a corporation, and since engine failure #1, I have received numerous support PMs, posts and emails. If you are interested in joining such a potential effort, please PM me so we can decide whether or not this is worth pursuing.

Regardless of what happens, I WILL NOT be sending the engine to MMR so they can snowball me again. JPC will be building an engine that will not be patchwork, haphazard, shortcutted, etc.... They will use new heads (definitely) and new block (if needed).

Thanks for everyone's support. I will know more later. I am not even going to touch the engine. It's going to come out and ship out to JPC on Tuesday. They should have the entire thing rebuilt in 3-4 weeks (vs 5-6 months at MMR).

Its really a shame that you have to go through all this hassle, not to mention all the money spent. I hope you get things resolved soon, and are eventually able to enjoy your car.

Thanks. It does suck. And the fact that I made a choice to count on MMR makes it even worse. Even if they put a grenade in my engine timed to go off 6 months after I put it in, it would still partially be my fault for continuing to do business with them in the first place... despite the warnings.

I will be looking forward to the results, what will this potential more power motor do to the E85 and turbo build/design? will any adjustments have to be made or planned for?

After reading all the threads on here for quite a few months now I have to wonder how the hell MMR is still is business? Every story with there name in it turns out to be a nightmare. Has anyone EVER had a good experience with anything they got from MMR?

i know 1 or 2 people that have had good luck with mmr. including a 800whp 5ltr 03 cobra. but i have decided, they will not touch my car. i have also first hand seen problems with dss. i dont know who to get a short block from. i feel safer putting one together myself.

What problems with DSS? I was planning on buying from them soon. Pm me if you don't want to post up in this thread.

Really, any power will come from the heads. I'm looking into switching to I-beam Manley rods which are actually rated past 1000 HP (and more even). Turns out the H-beams are technically only rated at 800. Justin says they can go to 1000, but he's seen them bend. Since the lower half should be intact, I can sell the H-beams and use that to offset the cost of the I-beams.

So other than the heads, the lower block won't make any more HP.... just support more. I talked about changing compression, but he recommends sticking with 9.8:1. The E85 will be fine at that CR, even at high boost, so lowering compression is not necessary.

JPC is who I'd trust now. I know Kevin @ PMP can also build a mean shortblock.

Yes, they are more expensive... but at this point, I've wasted so much time/money with MMR, I'm just going to consider the difference "insurance".

So technically, I guess it IS something simple... just a simple valve failure, again. I attached a pic of the retainer, as well as a pic of me (trying to keep a smile on my face despite all this crap).

The engine is out of the car. I'll getting it drained and palletized to ship to JPC tonight. I won't be able to get it out of my garage until tomorrow afternoon some time, so it won't actually ship out until Wednesday, probably.

Yeah, that's me. It was the day after I pulled it, though. A buddy helped me out. We had all sorts of issues this time. The last time we pulled it, it only took us two hours. This time it was like 4 hours. :p
