I've had the Steeda tri-ax shifter installed in my car for awhile now, and I recently purchased the Roush shift knob to put on it. But when I tried to screw on the new shift knob it just wouldn't fit. There are two parts that screw on: a nut and the actual round handle, and neither would fit on the bolt thing sticking up from the shifter. I tried using a wrench to screw on the nut, and that was a bad idea because now I've partially stripped off the threads on the actual shifter and on the nut included with the shifter knob.

Has anyone here with the tri-ax shifter also tried the Roush shifter knob? Because i would expect the knob to fit fine on the tri-ax shifter since the stock knob fits fine on it.

They are 2 diffrent threads that are commonly used. Some use the older SN95 thread. I'm not sure if steeda offers a diffrent shifter with the thread you are looking for.

well if the stock shifter knob fits fine on the steeda tri-ax shifter, then shouldn't the Roush shifter knob fit fine too if it's meant to replace a stock shifter knob?

The Roush shift knob doesn't fit the Tri-Ax handle. They use the stock thread pitch which different than ours. The reason why the stock handle fits ours is because of the nylon insert inside of the stock handle.

By the way Bullitt handles won't fit either.
