i was always under the impression that its better to go with a little less oil than too much...(the extra oil has to go somewhere...)

He's using 7 quarts because he has the oil filter relocation kit. The extra plumbing and larger filter "houses" the extra oil.

Why is this in tech when this subject has been beaten to death on many other threads in the past?????????????:headscratch::deadhorse2: :deadhorse:

Luuuuuuukkkkkkeeeeee.....Let Gooooooooooo.....USE the SEARCH....Trust Your Feelings.......USE the SEARCH!!!

BTW, I use Mobil-1 5W-20 with a Motorcraft 820S filter, and it was 106° today in Dallas. In fact, I had my oil changed today and change it every 5000 miles or 1 year, whichever comes first.

I disagree; just changed my oil this weekend and had 6 qts; put them all in, started the car to let the oil circulate, turned the car off and let it sit to allow the oil to drain and it was low; added 1/2 a qt and is it in the middle of the crosshatch area of the dipstick.

6 1/2 qts is what I will plan on.

How long did you let it set after you ran it? I warm just run engine will show different oil level than a cold one due to oil still being in the top end of the engine.

I always check my oil in the AM before I drive it to get an accurate reading.

Im still confused. I was going to try 5-30 but was turned away by my shop. Stick with what Ford recommends. There is a reason is what they said.

The reason is they have to meet cafe standards. It means the cars have to make a certian milage and emissions or something like that. Read that link I posted. It's all about why they say run 5-20. You gain 1% milage but lose 30% engine life.

Please tell me you are not serious. Don't be an idiot. Ford suggests 5w-20 for fuel economy. 5w-30 has the same viscosity at start up. The only difference is the 5w-30 tends to be more viscous at operation temp than 5w-20. Your shop turned you away because they are idiots and will only follow what is in the manual.
5W-30 oil will not hurt your engine. Anyone that tells you otherwise needs to be sodomized with a red hot poker.

Here is some advice: change your own oil. It isn't difficult and you don't have to deal with moronic shops.

i use in a 100°F climate 700whp+ 10w30 motul and is perfect

I just saw you're from Maracaibo. I was there for 8 days a couple years ago. Never saw an S197 the whole time let alone a 700hp one. Very interesting city.

Oh and I use 5w30 Mobil1 but I think I'm going to get 10w30 next change.
