The other day i noticed that on the roof of my car i have a little chip in the paint that now seems to be rusted inside.
What should i do to prevent further damage?

Use something to get the rust off, maybe a wd40 or something if it is light surface, also, cover it with some touch up paint to make sure the metal is no longer exposed

Do some research on using oven cleaner. I've never tried it, but some say it's great to get rid of rust. Then fix the chip.

Hmmm. Axle tubes too????

Like I say, I've never tried it, but I've heard some Jeepsters swear by it for their rigs. And yeah, they were saying like on the frame, door hinges, etc. So, I don't see why not. I think they sprayed it on and left it for some time, then brushed it off. But do some searching first, cause I'm not sure the process or if it's really any good or just BS.

After you manage to remove the rust, I would immediately throw some clear coat and touch up paint on that area. Then toss a decent wax on. That should help, assuming the rust isn't a large area, and is just a small chip.

I would be leary of oven cleaner. It can be pretty harsh on paint. I would buy a rattle can of some rust converter primer. Spray it in the cap and carefully use a touch up brush to fill the chip. Wait 24 hours and hit the chip LIGHTLY with some 800 grit sand paper. Then, touch the chip up with your color. A few coats to cover. Wet sand this with 800 very light and then dab on a couple coats of clear coat. Wait 24hours then wet sand it with some 1500 grit and hit the spot with a buffer. You'll never know it was ever there. Espeacially if you have a white car.
