I am looking at getting the frpp shortblock(part #M-6009-A463SC) . I will use my stock heads, and just swap out the block. I talked to my dealership, they gave me a price of
$1425 for the labor
$243 for fluids and gasket minus head gaskets
$260 for ford head gaskets
$90 ford head bolts
$350 8 bolt flexplate
do i need to do the cam phasers($480) and timing chains($105)? i have 33000 miles on the motor.

Am i missing anything else?

i am looking at $5700 out the door without the cam phasers and timing chain. Does that seem like a good price?

My plan is to up my boost with the 2.85 saleen pulley and see what i can put down. Trying to get in the 10's at the track and still drive the car everyday.

Specifically which FRPP shortblock are you planning on purchasing? Not all have forged components.

The labor rates seem pretty good. Is that for the complete removal and reinstallation? I do think you can do better than their prices for some of the parts. I got Cometic head gaskets for around $90 a side and the flexplate price is up there. You can probably get away with reusing the phasers and chains. Overall it seems like a great price! I spent almost that much on just my shortblock.

I think $350 is way too much for an 8 bolt flex plate unless you insist on having one that is SFI approved.

I would spend less on the flex plate and more on an oil pump with billet gears.

Phasers have gone through several updates. I recommend replacing phasers with the latest revision if you have the extra $$.

I would also hope while the engine is out you're planning on upgrading the torq converter and input shaft.

Have you gotten a quote from any other shop? Ask around get another quote for the same work and make an educated decision.

i had one other shop give me a price of $1520 for the labor.

so you dont think the oil pump that comes with the motor will be good enough?

Where is a good place to get a cheaper flexplate?

Where did you get the Cometic head gaskets for $90 a side?
