I ran across this company while browsing flea-bay today. Has anyone heard anything about them?

They have 4340 I & H beam rods.

I-beam claims:

SGI Forged 4340 Ultra Light Weight I-beam Rods futures:
  • Much lighter version of I Beam
  • Redline is 8600
  • Starting only at 540 grams, excellent throttle response
  • Ultimately designed for up to 800 HP engines
  • C-C/B.D/B.W/S.D/S.W
  • 5.933/2.239/.940/.866/.940
$220 set of 8

Seems too good to be true.

SGI's connecting rods featured the high quality that had led us to the forefront of the performance industry. All of our rods are made from a 2 piece forged aircraft steel to ensure maximum strength and durability. We offer a complete line of small block and big block Chevy, small block and big block Ford, Chrysler, Pontiac, Honda, Nissan, Toyota and more in both Heavy duty H-Beam and Lightweight I-Beam designs.
SGI's forged 4340 aircraft steel Ultra light I-Beam rods brings you more choice for lightweight application. We are the professionals that teamed of senior engineers, technicians and skill staff to work on our full line of connecting rods and have the ability of processing over 10,000 pieces monthly. SGI truly is, as the warehouse of manufactures, serving you with greater products at competitive prices.

Sorry, don't think I would trust any merchant with grammar and sentence structure like this.

Add some $ for the 8740 or 2000 rod bolts. Most of the h-beam connecting rods are forged in China and finished in the USA. The metal quality is good. What will set them apart is machining. I've thought about doing SGI before. I think the modmax ace rods are what I will go with in my next motor.

My current motor has h beams with arp 2000 rod bolts. I bought them used and they were advertised as eagle. The markings on them are the same as modmax has on theirs. Those same markings are on alot of the generic h beams. I had the machine shop check them out for roundness and size. Everything checked out fine.

It's all a gamble unless you buy Manley IMO. I used them for my first build and they are a high quality product.

Really? Most folks would have been able to answer that question on their own. So. I will answer it for you...

Yes, it probably is too good to be true. You could wait until some others give them a whirl and see when they break.
