Welp, It's been a long time since I've visited and posted on the forums and this post is a bittersweet one. Bitter because I totaled my 07 GT last Thursday after work. I was driving home going through an intersection with a green light with the flow of traffic when this f-ing SUV slammed on it's breaks, pretty much stoping on a dime in a split second from about 35-40mph. I of course was behind it when I slammed on my brakes but was too late and I slid and crashed right into the back of her. Airbag went off and the front in got all smashed up. Of course her SUV was barely hurt, just the bumper pushed in a little with some scratches and dents on it. And of course out pops some clueless Indian lady with 5 kids, who most likely wasn't fucking paying attention to traffic, which caused the slamming of the brakes. I was fucking furious...especially because she then admitted to the cop she wasn't paying attention and slammed on her brakes to avoid hitting the car in front of her. :asshat:

Needless to say, the insurance company totaled the car and now I've got to replace it. Obviously, this is why this post is sweet at the same time because it's time for an upgrade to the 5.0. I will miss the 07, but I guess I got to move on.

With that being said, I'm sure there are a ton of posts about this, but I've searched and can't find them. I wanted to get some your guy's insights on what an average price should be for a used 2011 GT 6M Premium and non-premium trim with anywhere from 5K-25K miles.

Everything I'm seeing with in 250 miles of me is slim pickings. It looks like the best I'm seeing is $24K-$26,900 for what I described above. How much of a dealer mark up is in those prices? Can I expect to talk them down $1-2K or are those prices about right?

Any help, insights or experience would greatly appreciated!

Nice! If you don't mind me asking, was that a base GT, no leather, bluetooth hands free, etc? I love your color btw!

Well, I guess they are horrendously marking them up where I'm at. I'm just trying to get an average to see what they should realistically be selling at and then what I can talk them down too.

I got my premium package 2013 gt for 28k and change out the door just about at cost! Walk into the dealer and tell them straight up you want it at cost or close to it... Most dealers will do it with a bit of haggling just stick to your guns and be firm! At the time they were giving 2k on the 13 gt and I got an extra 1k for having a lease with gm?

why would you pay for gap for a vehicle you paid well below retail value and well below the cost/rate depreciation throughout the loan unless you got like a 72 month loan?

as soon as you drive it off the lot......... Gap is good....

help me see the reasoning.

NADA value for a new base GT, with no other add-ons is $31,500

he bought the car for $27,200 with gap.

without gap it cost $26,900 let say.

off the lot it takes a $3,500 dollar hit let say. even so, insurance for the first year of a car should pay fair market retail value. which will still be above the $27,200 he paid. even if, god pray it doesn't happen, the car gets totaled at no fault to his own or another party without insurance.

and if the car depreciates like all other cars, even a 5 year loan that should still cover the cost of the loan as the car depreciates.

OK, Best case is a totalled vehicle and he doesnt have to use Gap. Gap coverage will still reimburse you for your deductable. Plus if it is a debt waiver Gap policy and say he wrecks the vehicle in 1 year and he did a 5 year loan then he would get 4 years of that premium back. It is too cheap of an insurance to risk not having it.

Is it just me or is there an alarming rate of 3V's getting totaled? I think there is a 5.0 conspiracy...

Glad your OK, and GL with the search for a new ride!

Haha! I was just thinking to myself that when I was searching for new 5.0 pricing on the forum!

Yeah, I was suprised by the ins. company totaling it out. It was a hard crash, but looking at the damage, it seemed like it could be fixed. It is what is though, I guess.

So I'm assuming from the posts so far, that $24-26K is fair range for a used 2011 GT with 5-25K miles? Anybody think those #'s can go lower?

Brand new base model 12' was just over 26k OTD for me. I looked at numerous used ones but they all scared me away...There should be more out there now since I was looking a year ago.

new with rebate will end up being cheaper in the long run than a used one.

Good point here. I qualified for $3250 in total rebates from Ford when I financed with Ford Motor Credit on my 2013 GT.

FWIW, I got my base GB 2013 GT 6M with the tech and SYNC packages for just under 28,000. It had 4 miles on it! I don't think I have ever seen an odometer with 4 miles on it! it was kinda weird. LOL

On the lot that I purchased mine from, they still had 1 2012 V6 with the MCA package (no 2012 GTs) that they would let go for a song. It's a buyers market right now.

On a side note, sorry about you car loss. I can't believe they totalled that thing out. It looks like an easy fixer. I guess because the airbags deployed?
