Well Im home today waiting for the new SB to arrive so I figured I'd get a head start on things. not bad for 2 hours of work. I bought the SB from Brian (dirtydogofthedesert)

SB Specs:

Engine is still a 9.1:1, same as my current motor

Man, I thought you were still in some sort of "planning phase." I didn't know you were dead in the middle of this.. I guess this could still be the planning phase, planning to get another engine in! Looking good, bro!

What was wrong with the original build? Besides the builder?

the builder was the problem and a noise that i couldnt identify or find and it wasnt easy to keep confidence in the motor. I figured id better do it now before soemthing bad went down and damaged the heads/cams ect

its also an excuse for the Billet oil pump gears lol

My fuckin' dog can build one better than Larry_H.

Seriously.....the thrust clearance is way too tight. Should be .008-.011.

You do have a transbrake....right? Imagine what happens when the converter balloons slightly and pushes the crank forward and you don't have enough clearance. You end up welding the thrust bearing to the crankshaft.

Yes, but the thrust still has to be set properly. The recomended minimum clearance is .008" and I'd probably set it a bit loose.

EDIT: Recomended minimum is actually .005"
