So, what is a man to do these day when trying to sell a 3v GT?

I put my 09 GT up for sale, in the hopes of picking up a 2013+ GT. However, the 3v market is dead. DEAD. Just read that someone picked up a 2012 5.0 GT with 56K miles for $18K. I'm asking $15K (which is WELL along the average market price) for a 09 GT with 56K miles and not a single bite!!

What is the best option to sell a 3v without COMPLETELY losing one's ass?

Sold mine on eBay within a day. It had 120k miles with minor paint flaws, mechanically sound for $9.5k

The 3V value is going down quick in my opinion, the sooner you sell it the better. Especially with the new 2015s coming out.

set it on fire and collect insurance payout.....

seriously though, what all do you have done to the car? Slightly Modded 3V market is still relatively good. When I help friends private list cars I literally spam every car marketplace I can find.

It's mainly exterior aesthetics and some suspension mods, the engine only has a C&L Racer CAI with SCT tune, otherwise stock. Never any FI or nitrous.

This has all my mods: http://s197forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=111655

Lots of people have view but no one seems interested. Its really deflating...I haven't tried Craigslist or E-Bay, lots of timewasters there but it seems I may have to.

You are priced right for the inventory around you. There is quite a bit for sale around you, so guys can be picky.

I'd hit up eBay and run an auction for local pickup only. If the price doesnt move to where you want it to in the last couple hours - have a friend bid on it Haha.

Like James said too... get an appraisal on it, you may be pleasantly surprised.

I would put the car back to stock. You will most likely not get your moneys worth for the modifications if left on the car. Plus, most people may not be interested in the aesthetic mods you have done as you mentioned. I know when I'm looking for a car... I want a clean slate to start off with.

When I sold mine... I took all the mods off and returned it to bone stock, sold almost immediately. Then I turned around and put all my mods for sale and made another 5k off them. In total I made just around your asking price and my car was an 06 with a lot more miles.

It's a lot of work to demod, but it is worth it.

If I go to get it appraised, would it serve me better to de-mod the car? I fear that people's different tastes in mods may be a cause for the slow sale or potential low appraisal number.

It would maybe hurt the private sale, but help trade. Dealers usually like as close to stock as posible.

Do you have a CarMax near you? If so take it in and get an appraisal, it's free and you can see what the car is worth wholesale in your area.

Good buy Doug. More expensive up here.
Thanks. I was going to wait til next year but it just came up; and I liked it:)
Ouch....for me.

Yeah. Its still a decent market man; dont give up. I sold my Roush last year on Ebay.
but the advice already given is spot on. The rebates on the new ones on the lot and the 15's coming, its going to get tougher and tougher. But not impossible. Get busy:)

There is a Carmax is Schaumburg. Only issue is they will tell you that they prefer it to be stock. I had my old 06 GT valued at Carmax while modded and they told me they would have given more stock. Then 1 year later got the same car valued with them stock. The stock amount was significantly higher even with more miles.

Use CarMax as a lowest price starting point... take some lube cause you will need it. I have never been given or seen anyone get fair market value for a car at CarMax. They screw you for every cent they can and then mark the car up...
