Third Brake Light Bulb Assembly Melted

Extraordinarily odd. If you haven't had to change this bulb, it's behind the third brake light assembly and accessible from inside the trunk (behind the trunk latch cover). This is what I found when I went to change it. The assembly is marked with 61A-3002-0430. Can't find anything like it online or any parts stores. The bulb is burned to the point I can't read the bulb number, either.

I found a Dorman light center brake assembly like AM for $50 and a Motorcraft kit to replace the wire where the bulb goes into. Seem like a known problem.

Replaced my bulb with an LED bulb and got a replacement light housing from Ford (this was ~4 years ago so would have to shop around now).

Love the AM listing...shows non-LED bulb, lists as: "Type of Light: Led, Quantity of Led: Twelve"
And I wonder why I've returned more stuff to AM than any other vendor.

Oh, if I recall, the bulb is the same as the side-marker bulbs.

I hope you are putting an LED bulb in so it doesn't happen again. Those halogen bulbs get white hot. Something like these should fit.
