I have been playing around and i think im going to return to the old drag racing hobby vs corner carving.

I have no experience with these cars in regards to straight line acceleration.

Basics fir decent runs would be?

Wont be til next season so i have sone time.

Car is MT82 so shifter and bf bracket will be a given.

Assuming upper and lower arms and drag radials but what else?

I have 3.31 gears snd traction on shifting is crap.

Radials on a prepped surface could spell trouble with a manual. Should be fine for street duty.

Shocking the rear end, axles, transmission, or clutch. The radials' sidewalls don't give enough to absorb much.

Run a 28" tall drag radial on a 15" or 17" wheel and you'll have plenty of sidewall flex. My personal favorite DR is the M&H Racemaster as they are a very soft compound.

The 3.31 gears work well with a shorter DR (say, 26" tall), but if you go with the 28" tall DR for more sidewall, the 3.31's with the MT-82 won't be enough gear. 3.73's would be much better, or at least 3.55's minimum. I went with 4.56's in my '11 Brembo GT with MT-82, and while the launch was much better, the extra shift (into 5th) negated any gains from the launch.

The factory catalytic converters prevent aggressive tuning, so an off-road mid-pipe can allow for decent gains. Long tube headers are awesome, but very expensive for the gains and a PITA to install.

Keep the stock airbox, just find a good tuner. Lots of good tuners to choose from. Mike Rousch is very well respected - he's at Mid Atlantic Performance.

Good control arms, sticky tires, and drive it like you hate it. Adjustable shocks also help tame the see saw motion our cars like to do.

I've already been 12.20 @116.5 stock-ish on NT05s and 10.89 @ 128 on 19" radials with some boost. These are great cars for drag racing.
