I went with Nitto NT05's in 275/35/18. I was really impressed, after 1 hour of track time tread depth is just shy of 6/32. They held up nicely and performed incredibly. Due to shorter OD, I was in 4th most of the time. Here is a video

Why 275/35 instead of 275/40? I chose the latter to keep a reasonable OD and gearing. Just curious if you chose the shorter tire for a reason.

Did you notice them get greasy/slick after being worked for a while on track? This is the biggest complaint I've heard about the NT05s but I haven't made it out to a HDPE yet with them.

PS - awesome video ... RA sure has a lot of walls!

Not all tires brands/models come in all sizes... 275/40/18 is a relatively newer size offering and only made by a handful of tire companies, whereas 275/35/18 is much older and more common tire size offering.

The NT05s do though. It's one of the reasons I chose that tire (and the tire he said he used). I wish more tires were offered in this size since 275/35R18 is just tiny for anything much bigger than a Miata ;)

Availability and price was one reason. The other was that I am under impression a 275/40 has taller sidewall as such more deflection under hard ex celebration.

Each session was 20 min, ambient temp was at 75 and they never got greasy really impressed with them.

Yes RA is not a foregoing track. Especially the kink, many cars have gone to heaven at that spot.

if you do go for r comps make sure you have enough negative camber.

otherwise you'll cord them way too early
