Tuners in south/central NJ

Does anybody know a good tuner in southern/central NJ? I tried JDM, and they told me they won't do turbo cars, I have spoken to Kevin hand at wicked motorsports, and that man is just impossible to get ahold of. Big daddy seems to have dropped off the map... Does anybody know any reputable dyno tuners in the area?


Also before everybody recommends Lito, I am VERY hesitant to go with a remote tune because I don't want to pop my block. My thoughts are that you don't really know how much power the car is making.

I was going to suggest the same thing. If you are still at McGuire's that's like 45 minutes away from you.

Choose anyone that makes you feel good, like you choose a doctor but dont get too much into numbers, there are no warranties that 450 is safe and 500 is not, yes more are more chances to blew it but you can blow it a lot lower. You just need a rod thinking enough was enough and kaput. And this can happen a way lower numbers like those. Engine blowing is like a lottery, you get more chances the higher you go but that doesnt mean that you can't win it with just one ticket.

A tuner with tons of tuned 3V turbos will tell you with quite close were you are at and what to do and what not. There is a reason some shops don't tune them and others have tons of them on the road.

That's a really dumb reason not to have Lito tune your car. He's the best there is, in most peoples opinion(including mine).

Lito is 4000 miles away from me and he tuned my build.

But I'm only a D1SC pushing 20 psi on e85 and making 650 to the tires.

For serious builds I would recommend a local dyno tuner.

Just a guess here. The thing with turbos is that they are dependent upon quality systems to keep the boost where it's healthy for the motor. All too often people will cheap out on those critical components (think of some of the ebay packages available) and combined with a large turbo that is capable of lots of boost the result is that boost can creep up and/or spike far beyond what is intended. When that happens it's anyone's guess as to the carnage or lack of it. The fuel system can reach it's limits and so can the motor. It can and does end with a blown motor at times and the resultant "bad tune" diagnosis that is sometimes true and sometimes really a matter of boost regulating component failure.

This has been the devils advocate response. It's based in part on some of the crazy stuff people will claim when their car is on a dyno and bad things happen. Almost always they demand a new motor and power adder. One gentleman claimed that his overboosted Lightning motor blew because the loaded dyno stressed his rods too much.

By all means I would go with Manuel as first choice in a heartbeat. A remote tune from him will be as good as any local dyno tune. More than likely it will be much better. Proper data logging on the road gives the best feedback for tuning because the motor is under it's real load. The biggest issue is finding a place to do it safely. A test and tune day at the track is probably the best place for wot logging.

I have a turbo 3v and live in South Jersey. At first, I went to a "decent" tuner by atco raceway, however, the street-ability was not up to par. I end up using Lito and couldn't be happier!

In Tom's River there is Tune Time performance. Matt specializes in GM products but he also does Ford. Only reason why I didn't have him tune my mustang is I was pretty set on getting the procal. He does turbo work too. He was going to do a custom turbo on my G6 GTP but due to all the issues the 3900 had I decided on was better getting the Mustang
