This is an addition to a thread that i posted.

Here is the original thread for those who want to know:

Anywho. The scratches and smudges came out nicely except for one. I used the regular porter cable, but i had to use meguires 105 compound to get this out. They were definitely embedded in there.

Here is the carnage:

And after a good polishing the car came out to this. I tried getting the garage light in there so you guys could see the before and after. Sorry if you really can't tell, but yea it looked like crap.

Anyways heres what it looks like now:

Damn dude, you had let the swirlies build up, you needed that buffing anyway, lol. Or was all that from them being on the hood?

I could fix that chip if you weren't so far away. If you're brave enough get you some touch up paint and fill it in.

Let it dry for several hours and then sand it with 2k grit until it's flush with the paint. Then hit it with your 105 and follow up with some 205 and it should be way less noticeable.

When the guy threw the rocks all over my car I did 20 some chips and you can't even tell any of them was ever there except one and it's only noticeable to me because I know where to look.

What did you use after the 105 tonight? If it was 205 then I've got to say. . . AIN'T THAT POLISH THE SHIT????? I love M205, I sleep with a bottle of it under my pillow, lol

Actually, since you have M105 you can use 1k grit and you'll be fine.

Yeah, M105 is very abrasive it really has to be followed up by a finishing polish to get a proper finish. M105 should only be used to correct visible sanding marks. It shouldn't be used for swirls, etc. It's an overkill unless it's severely neglected paint.

It's basically a liquid sandpaper, lol That's what it was designed for and if you call Maguire's and talk to them about it they will tell you. . .

#1 Only use it if you have to, it's very very harsh on your clear coat

#2 It must be followed with a finishing polish and preferably M205 to smooth out the finish.

It's some harsh shit, lol

Hmm so think i should go over with the 205 tomorrow even though i sealed it?

As far as the swirls i have tried the double bucket method, microfiber sponges, everything i can think of and i still get swirls. i really don't know what else to do.

Yeah hit it with the 205 and then seal it again. Are you using grit guards in your buckets? They make all the difference in the world.

No.

As far as how i dry it i use an absorber. I never seemed to have a problem with this shiit until i got my black car. My silver car stayed swirl-free it seemed like.

I will use the 205 and go over the whole car tomorrow.

As far as technique what do you use? Do you go over fast or slow?

I did notice the 105 seemed to be more "frothy" than the 205, and kick up way more dust particles. It did get off a very bad scuff mark off the rear deck lid though. I essentially did the whole top of the car with it, because when i parked it on base before i got deployed for 3 months it had a bunch of acid rain deposits on it. Never was able to get them off, and some are still visible. :( But the 105 did a lot better than the 205, i just didnt know you had to follow it up with a lighter polish.

I use the microfiber sponges that have the little strings all over them and change them often, too. I never get swirls. Read my writeup about proper washing in the keeping it clean section. I'm on my phone so I can't link it. Also, wash in straight lines and use very little pressure.

Yea, i was going to pick up one of those next. Sort of looks like a big blue mop. I noticed them in walmart a few weeks ago, LOL.

You want to go over it slow and on speed 5. Yeah you need something less aggressive for swirl and waterspots like swirl x

Yea, i tried different techniques. Like sometimes i would go in a straight line side to side at a speed of 1-2inches per second and then sometimes i would go slow and in a circular motion at an inch per second. The circular motion seemed to net the best results, but again i dont want to damage the clear.

Yeah ok so much for the detailing lessons. When does the ass-kicking commence?

LMAO, im not kicking anyones' ass. But he will definitely know i did not appreciate this. Although, if he does step up and want to talk some shit and elaborate on how he did nothing wrong, ill be glad to break my foot off in his ass.

I fucking hate people and their damned weddings anyway. Hell they will be divorced in 3 years time anyway... :handjob:
