Update - 3230#. Tip here - an easy way to lose 50 # is to open the trunk and remember you stuffed a bunch of parts in there before you weighed the car.

LOL learn this . remove weight in ounces. Don't look at something and say nope that can weigh but a couple ounces.

reason. ounces make pounds......lol.......

.

/\ This a thousand times over. ANY car Ive had Ive removed things that were just ounces. Ive even admitted Ive wanted to remove things described in ounces. People have given me shit for it. And that response is what I give them. Just like I tell people pennies add up to dimes and dimes to dollars when I pick up loose change off the floor.

Wow, i'll bet that gives your brakes a real workout!

I hope to weigh my car this weekend to get a base point. I'll be real happy if it comes in at under 3600#'s the way it sits right now.

Yes it does. It has 700 rwhp so it moves pretty good. It eats rotors. Been through 3 sets in 1.5 years of tracking it about once per month.

My 2008 GT with every option except navigation, shaker 1000 and auto trans weighed 3420 with a full tank of gas. My 2005 GT with a lot less options weighed 3400 with a full tank of gas on the same scale. Its amazing that power seats and leather along with a bunch of other options only adds 20 lbs.

I think the seats do more than that Chris. SGDave said those power leather seats are chunky. The 07+ mustangs had revised front rails to accommodate the 5.4 motors for the Shelby's. I think that may play part of the difference.

So, are you saying in effect that the 07+ mustangs are lighter than the earlier cars?

My 2007 weighed 3720lbs with me in it, full tank, and a trunk full of stuff. I figured it to be about 3440lbs without myself or trunk full of BS.

That's a pretty close guess. I had mine weighed in the tech barn at autobahn and it was 3646 with a 190lb driver and a 1/4 tank. So 3450lbs is decent round number depending on your car's options.

I thought the weight difference would have been more, but I used the same state certified scale for both cars. I wonder what the actual weight difference between power and non power seats are? The 2008 had power everything and more sound proofing material, but the weight difference was much smaller than expected.

It's not so much of a guess, when I got home I might of weighed myself and everything that was in the car and did a little math...

Shaker 500, leather seats. Headers & o/r x will drop a few more #'s...

I finally put the PJ on a scale :

3620 with an almost full tank as it sits.

I'd like to lose 50-100lbs so the stock heavy seats are a likely candidate as i need more room anyway.

Lighter wheels, 1-piece Aluminum Driveshaft, and 2-piece rotors (not sure if the PJ's are solid or 2-piece) will help alot :thumb2:

3329 here with me and 1/4 tank. i have the seam sealer removed, trunk gutted, full suspension including k member, stocker seats for now(going one pcs corbeaus, no cage, 14# battery, gt500 wheels w/ 275/40's, baer track plus system with 2 pcs rotors
and most of the lower portion of the carpet removed so its just the top layer.

im looking to get it down to the lower 3200 lbs and then add the cage along with a bunch of paint and body work which needs to be done.

ive head of certain people gutting the wiring harness to save weight also...but i would love to get just the factory non accessory harness. Steve P do you know of a source to get just that harness? i know the FRPP hot rod pack comes with it but i dont know about just the harness. i also know its quite a few connectors less so its sure to be a ton lighter.

ooooo and forgot, what is your decibel level inside the car with the sound deadener removed? mine is pretty bad at 96dbs, but i cannot imagine my car without the plastics and top carpet layer, it would be killer.
