What pulley is needed for 12lbs-14lbs of boost on a whipple?

i have an 08 mustang with the whipple HO blower, and want to up the boost from 10lbs to 12lbs or 14lbs, already have a forged block, jst want to know what is the best way to achieve this amount of boost

Steeda makes a nice 10 rib kit that puts it up to about 14-15 lbs on stock heads and cams. Less to worry about with it's own belt.

is there any other way with jst changing out the pulley's and using a 6 rib belt

I had a Reichard Racing 3.4" pulley on my 07 with a 6 rib and saw around 12 psi.

Your probably going to have massive slipping with a 6 rib. I know mine slips alittle with the regular 3.25" pulley Whipple sent with the kit and I only see 10-12 psi.

Don't get hung up on a boost # IMO as it will be very dependent on supporting mods

It's been awhile but iirc a 3.375" put me at about 12. It worked fine with a 6 rib. I later went with an Innovators West 10% od and made 15 with a 3.5" pulley. A 3.25" with the 10% balancer made 17 psi. By that time I had swapped everything over to 8 rib though.

Anyway, a 3.375" should get you there. You can always pick up an 8 rib pulley and start to swap everything else over while still running the 6 rib belt.

You should be able to run the same belt but will probably have to swap idler pulleys as needed.

I'd guess somewhere between 15-17 depending on a few variables. The only way to find out is to do it.

I would just swap idlers around until I had the proper belt tension. It's been awhile and I don't remember the sizes. There are only three smooth idlers you can swap. The whipple kit came with a larger idler so you should still have a small one left over from your motor to start with.

Boost could be anywhere. I'm just basing the guess on what my results were, yours will be different but I wouldn't expect them to be more than a few pounds difference.

I think there was a difference between the gen 1 & 2 whipple 140AX, after I had shorties and the FR 62mm throttle body, the 3.125 pulley that came with the gen2 kit only made 11PSI, but 502RWHP.
Also, a good supporting mod would be a thump racing tensioner, stopped all belt slip at that level. Another good supporting mod is the electric water pump... so that when you do throw a belt, you are not stranded and can drive to a convenient locatrion without overheating.
As bruce said, the overdrive pulley makes more sense at a certain point to reduce belt slippage.
