I do not think I can get worse luck. Finally get my car running the way I want which is awesome. All I needed to do to finish my built was mount my boost gauge and wide band air fuel gauge. I ask you all how to run the wires through the fire wall. So easy enough take off the tire right?.......WRONG!! Wtf

My wheel lock breaks on the stud. Any ideas how I fix this?

Here is the key... Yup broke too.

So now I can't take any of my wheels off. I'm sure I can buy a replacement though

Honestly. I haven't ran lock nuts since the early 90s.

Someone will come in and help I'm sure.

FYI the wiring tip applies to the passenger front tire as well

Hammer a socket over the lock and u screw

Take it to a tire shop. They should have a tool to get a lock nut off without the key. Another thing to try would be an air hammer and chisel.

I tried the hammering a socket and due to the new odd shape it's in between sizes. Hard to tell from the picture but half the nut broke off.

I will try again. It may be my only option

You're going to need a thin wall socket that you can pound on to the whole thing not just the end. A tire shop does have stuff to do this too.

Yeah try to pound an impact socket on and then hit with an impact, usually spin right off.

Friend of mine had the same issue with those kinds of lock nuts. Did the same thing, he had a friend with a socket that would fit on, and they twisted it off. One reason why I didn't bother with lock nuts on my last car.

I ended up cutting the stud from behind when mine sheared off. Ground down the back using a Dremel the punched it thru

I decided to call Mcgard wheel locks and sent them my pictures. For FREE they are sending me a replacement set and a replacement key. Also they sent me a tool to remove the broken lock without damaging my wheel stud. All they asked is that I sent the tool back and the broken lock. They are even paying for return shipping.

Now that is customer service!

Now let's hope the tool works...lol

Last time I heard anyone getting their wheels stolen was maybe in the late 90s. Someone jacked my neighbor's Cutlass out of his driveway, and it ended up completely stripped out on the side of the highway. In the 2000's it was catalytic converters that were getting cut off of SUVs because the thieves would sell the platinum filters out of them.

We've had a rash of thefts in this area lately of the wheels and tires off 2014-up GM trucks. I think more for the tires than the wheels.

Smash n grabs are more popular in modern society.
