You can buy/possibly rent a kit made for this at any auto parts store. That way you won't have to buy a ton of sockets.

I tried one of those on my son's Mazda when he lost the lug key. That stupid thing got one lugnut off, but it stripped the fuck out of the stud threads.

So I ended up getting my Dremel out and cutting a slot on the head of each one. Don't bother to go all the way across the lugnut, just right in the center and make it deep, but not into the stud if you can help it.

Then, using an electric drill with impact like my Dewalt, I went at them. Got two of three off. I then had to rent an air drill with impact to get the last one off. You can buy the large slotted bits for this at Lowes.

Edit: Come to think of it, you could just use your Dremel to cut the end off a hole saw bit to make the bit for removing the lugs.

if im thinking of the right lugs they should have a universail key kinda like a hex, you should be able to get it at any tire shop. As for the socket trick ive done it before it works. i used to work at discount the kit that they are talking about is almost the same. use a 12pt 1/2in drive socket that jus barely starts on the lug use a 6in extension on the socket and beat the living piss out of it and the spin it off.

The biggest issue with the hammering a socket on is that my lugs are smooth round on the outside since they're female lugs and the key was a male key.

Dremeling them off would be an absolute nightmare. The guy that owned the car before me was pretty meticulous about records. Maybe, just maybe, he kept records.

Maybe he put the sticker that came with the lug nuts in the glove box with the serial number to order a new lug key. I stuck mine on the inside of the glove box.

what does the lug look like? If it looks like i think it does, what you're about to try and do, wont work. The bigger lugs that look like that made for trucks are easy to get off. all you need is a half inch extension and it fits right in. your lugs are slightly smaller, so maybe a 3/8's extension will work? you need something to go in it... not around it.

Just an update: i ended up findng a bolt head, inserting it to find the right size, welding it to an impact socket and using that to get them off. Thanks to my new friends at Southern Speed in Jacksonville nC!!!! I can now put on my QA1s, and weld my axles!!! TIME TO RACE.
