Widest tires for factory 19" 2011 GT C/S wheels

I believe the wheels are 19x9s The factory size is 245/45/19. The inside lip of the wheel is wider than the sidewall of tire and the front lip of wheel is close. If you lay them inside down the rim hits the ground. I'm starting to wear the rears down pretty quick and trying to plan ahead on a new set of tires. I did some searching here and other places and really haven't came up with much.

Looking for the widest possible tire that has a similiar diameter. Prefer something with great dry traction, but still decent wet traction. I'm not worried about it carving corners and just want the widest yet safe tire the factory wheels will hold. Car should be close to or over 600RWHP and will see slightly more.

Any suggestions would be appreciated as for size and tire(brand/model)!

GT/CS wheels are 19x8.5. Based on most manufacture's recommendation, the widest tires you can fit on the 8.5" wide wheel is 255. This is not a readily available size so 255/40/19 in Continental ExtremeContact DW or Hankook Ventus V12 are probably some of the stickiest tire you can buy in that size.

Yes, you can physically mount a 265 or even a 275 tire on a 8.5" wheel, but the short side wall of these tires does not allow much flex. As a result, you are probably putting no more rubber on the ground than a narrower 255 tire. While it may look wider, it is really not putting the whole foot print on the ground. A chalk test will easily confirm that. Some people will try to cheat the stiff sidewall with lower tire pressure. The result is generally unsafactory and uneven tire wear.

If you seriously is putting down 600 RWHP, I would recommend getting a properly sized wheel (19x9.5 or 18x10 Drifts are good choices) and put a 275 or 285 tire on the ground with a proper foot print.

This is correct. With 600rwhp, I'd recommend 18x11 with some serious tire on there.

Great info thanks guys. Just bought Darkstars for drag setup and not going to buy new wheels for the street. It sucks the 19s seem to have limited choices out there.
