I have a older x3 tuner that is being a problem. It is currently unlock and has 5 unlocks left. I am trying to update it so I can tune a newer car that isn't currently supported by the firmware installed on the x3 right now. I down loaded the newest sct device updater out. I installed the up to date drivers. Every time I go to check for updates on firmware it says it can not unlock the tuner to get the information off the device. The updater and x3 is communicating however because I can retrive and save the stock file from the old stock tune and I can also see the tunes that are currently installed on the x3. Anyone have this issue before?

I tried updating my X3 over the weekend and had the same issues.

So the update is only for tuning newer cars? So I don't really need to update it?

SCT keeps telling me to update my drivers, but that doesn't help. sigh
I'm just using it with the original software since it works.

I contacted them...they say its my drivers. sigh

So they want to remote tie into my computer to try to fix it.
I live in the west coast, so thats going to be challenging.

They did a remote fix for me. All I did was type in a website, plug in the x3 and watch them work. SCT is awesome.

I just updated my drivers/software and no issues. Try uninstalling all the drivers and start from scratch. The files could have just been corrupted.
