From the looks of it, definetly a slight cowl at least. I always prefer sleepers, so if you can fit the blower and intercooler under a 4" or 5" hood that'd be great. 10-12 is A LOT of boost, you'll probably need forged internals with that much power. SoloBusa lost 3 wrist pins all at once with that much boost, doing all new motor now.
Wish I lived closer, and mine wasn't a daily driver...
We've confirmed about 9" of clearance between the front intake runner on the plastic upper manifold and the hood. This means we can most likely fit it under the stock hood.
Didn't he break his engine at like 650hp? That should have been a lot more than 10psi with his Procharger setup? We're looking to make a solid 450whp with the base kit. I think that's very reasonable.
I'd like to clear up a few misconceptions.
First, and foremost.. this is NOT a kit being developed by KB. It was designed/machined IN HOUSE here at Nautilus Performance in Houma, LA (
www.nautilusperformance.com). We are testing multiple superchargers, and will probably go with KB when it's all said and done.
That being said.. This is a full working kit that was used for testing in a supercar. I can't divulge which company, but let's just say that it is proven and will make at least 450whp on pump gas without breaking a sweat.
Here's a pic of the running prototype..
Also, this is a fully intercooled kit. There is a Bell Intercoolers air to water core tucked away in the manifold, and it's good for 700hp.
I know you can't see the core, but I promise that it's in there.
And, a top shot, without the bypass valve/plenum installed..
This particular supercharger is a 2.1 liter Kenne Bell. It'll be good for around 450-475whp, and will be the "base" supercharger that will come with the kit. We will also offer a 2.4 and a 2.6H for those looking for big power with built engines.
For those asking about hood clearance.. we are 75% sure that it will fit under the stock hood. If there is around 9" of clearance between the first intake runner on the plastic OEM manifold and the hood, that pretty much tells me it'll fit. If not, we'll probably offer 1" k-member spacers to drop the engine down 1". But, we can probably get it under the stocker without any issues. There's room to shrink it down a bit.
