I've been in Vegas on vacation for the last week, the wife and I drove by a dealership and stopped in for a test drive as they had 2 in stock. We loved it and will be ordering when we get back home, how long is it taking 3-4 months? Going to be Kona Blue, Electronics Package, Comfort Package, Brembo's along with a few other goodies. When I bought my 2007 I felt like I was taken advantage of, I used X-Plan, How much room do I have to barter with these guys as far as add ons(clear bra, tint) I know it depends on the dealer, but are they willing to throw that in to sell the car or am I going to have to pay for it? My 2007 is the first car I've ever purchased new so I'm still pretty new to the game. Also can I get better than x-plan or is that a pretty good price? Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks and look forward to the modding!

use xplan as a starting stop and then go from there. i was able to get another 1k off of the xplan price on top of the dealer incentive and ford incentives. also try to get the 1k loyalty bonus since you have a ford already even if they arent offering it you can sometimes talk to the manager and get him to throw it in if you brought from that dealership in the past. its all about being patient and waitng. pit 2 or 3 dealers against each other for the sale about a week before the end of the month.

i walked out paying 25k out the door with TTYL on a 30.5k stickered price car after all the negotiating and rebates. took about 1 1/2 weeks but saved about 2k

It's all about the dealer using some of the X-plan rebate money they get paid to save a deal and get a number.

Like beefcake said, you can't create a rebate that isn't there.

not saying he generated it but i asked him about it and he said no...then i kept going to other dealers saying this is the deal i wanted. took a couple trips and them saying no. then about 1 1/2 week later from my initial visit they said yes they will do the price i wanted. about 4 days after that i had another one of the dealers call me and said he could do the deal i was asking for and i told him too late. so its all just about waiting it out. they can afford to make a couple hundred profit or loss a little just to get the sale because there are a bunch of people that just go in and pay MSRP or above it. Your the buyer and the power is on your side especially in this economy. just be patience and go in with a LOW but realistic number and wait it out. when the manager realizes he needs one more sale to make the his numbers for the month and keep his GM off his back he will be willing to sale the car at little to no profit just to make the sale.

Alright, so a little update. I called my dealer today and he got me some ordering information as far as what I want and the options I want, I gave him all the codes and he is going to price it out this week, he told me he could wave the doc fee's and help me out with a college student discount($500). I asked him about the loyalty bonus and he said he would have to check into it as he has not seen anything come across for the 2011 yet, there is a $500 for the 2010's right now. He also told me that as far as the X-Plan the only thing I could do better is if I were any employee of Ford as the X-Plan is $200 or something over invoice of what the dealer pays. I'm taking my car to him later this week to see what I can get for a trade... I'm sure I'll end up parting out my car back to stock as they probably won't give me anything near what the mods cost me. I'll keep you updated. I picked out the Kona Blue GT Premium Coupe, Rapid Spec 401A, Leather Trimmed Seats with Grabber Blue Inserts(not sure on these yet, I may just go with black), Comfort Package, Brembo's, Security Package(required if you want HIDS), HID's, Electronics Package, 3.73 Gears, Rear Backup Camera, 6 SPD Manual, and the Window Louvers and Hood Scoop I think thats everything. He also said that some of these may come as packages which could bring down the price of the options if they are packaged together with other ones. Once he enters them in his system he will be able to tell from there. More updates to come.

Thanks Beefcake, the IPhone isn't very grammar friendly. As for the $500 thats the loyalty bonus only. Not all the incentives they are offering for the 2010.

I'm with beefcake. I've been selling Fords for 8 years and I've never been able to "generate" a rebate that the customer didn't qualify for. It's not the dealers money they are giving away.

Xplan is a fantastic price on any Ford. Only thing better is if you work for Ford.

PS. I love how everyone is out to get every last cent out of a dealer. Its as though they are not entitled to make a little bit of money on a hot product that *just* came out. God forbid you find a good salesman who treats you well and gives you a good deal on a car without going into the red and you're both happy. They call us the bad guys, but do you think we want to bend over backwards to the jerk thats shopping us all over town and offering low numbers on a hot car that really devalues our product and ultimately, your resale value?? If you get Xplan which is a better price than 99% of buyers will get, and you still want more?? Really??

When those people need help, they are still knocking on my office door. And we do remember people and thier deals. I'm human, so I'll tell you that I'm usually more willing to help those that have/are cool with me rather than those that are willing to sell me down the river to the next guy that had a price $100 less than me. You may not always need me, but I know if I have a Mustang customer that has aftermarket stuff on his car and he needs help with warranty work, "I have a guy in service". For those that did nothing to make my job easy or pleasurable, "That dealership where you bought it should be able to help you out." :)

The point...find a trustworthy salesman or manager and be reasonable and nice. That will get you farther than any type of number hammering and certainly better than if you go in with your defenses on high alert. Remember, we're human too...well most of us. ;)

some good points here..... imho, i probably would not bicker too much over $ 200 or $300 on a $35,000 car. dealer location and service reputation are more important for me.

btw, i am new to these mustang forums: what is the warrantee period on a new 5.0 mustang ?
i look to pick one up early next year (hopefully the hype will die down a bit and the near end of model year timing could get me a decent deal).

thanks

how much off approx do you get with xplan ?
EDIT: i just saw a poster above saying xplan is approx $200 over dealer invoice ? if that is so how can anyone try to get more ? just my opinion - no flames.

another mustang forum says i can get xplan if i join the mustang club of america - is this correct ?

thanks
