aftermarket stereo

i just ordered the scosche kit with a pioneer avh-x4500bt double din. i know i need a particular harness to keep some features..but is the harness a must just to install the stereo? Not worried about keeping any features

Yes if you ever want to revert back to stock. The kit comes with a harness (or should) that will allow you to plug everything back up to the stock head unit if you ever decide to remove your aftermarket head unit.

not familiar with the 5.0 harness but im sure its nothing different when it comes to hook ups.
