So I've been reading about this blower for over a year.
Almost pulled the trigger but decided to run this engine into the ground first.
Now I'm going to address that the known issues are well apparent.
Low power
High Heat
But like most anything, I would think the heat can be managed.
Costly but can be managed.
Fast forward.
Talked to VMP, have a price and a 1.9 full NA to FI kit, tuning included.
Catch? It's 100 less than I could nab a R2300 setup for.
But only 500 from the base M90 setup.
I doubt I'll go past the CAI addition.
Justin mentioned throwing a GT500 TB just for a few ponies..debating that thought as well.
Before we continue, goals help in replies, so I'll elaborate.
370-400 (not hung up on the numbers, but just a ball park)
No 1/4, no autocross. And I don't wail on the loud pedal while driving.
I'm quite content with whatever I'm putting down now.
But someday with a fresh motor, I'd like a little more.
So yes, modest goals, for a boring driver.
I've read a few threads of you M90 guys doing some good things.
Granted, it's not the best.
Unless you(m90 owners) can talk me out of it with cold hard experience.
I think, it's about right for what I want.
I would be wanting to run either an afco triple pass with fans, or perhaps the 2010 HE. I'm looking into the possibility of running a 13/14 GT500 HE. As the guys I've talked to here say they are holding up nicely. Granted that may be more of the lower intake and blower itself. But it's definitely bigger than the 05-06 kit.
I don't see nor drive in freezing temps here.
So I would be running a steady water/corrosion inhibitor mix for the IC.
I already run 70/30 with rather good success in my cooling system.
I plan only a fresh longblock, possibly Ceramic LTs and O/R H.
Exedy Stage 2
Aluminum Driveshaft.
And may drop to 3.55 or 3.73 for sheer mileage.
I hope to glean a lot of first hand knowledge here.
Oh and to add salt to the already bad idea...temp hasn't peaked yet. 105.3 outside.
I'm trying to manage that a bit with a 2010 GT500 Hood insert.
*possibly* a 9 bar grille.
I figure the basics, more air in, more heat out. etc.
So please learn me some things.
FWIW
looked into the DOB setup, and that's definitely on the table.
I won't be doing this until next year either or. But I like to have a fully formulated plan. OCD perhaps.
And lastly. What EXACTLY is the difference in the 2010 kit that puts it in it's own listing? Because with the better HE and plug and play wiring.
I'd love to just buy that, a few tweaks never hurt an install.
But my google searching isn't yielding much. Hoping someone would know for sure.
Well sorry for the long winded post.
But I know if anywhere this is the more informed place to ask.
Thanks in advance everyone.
