Long story short. Needed to find a new house that fit certain guidelines.
1) Needed to be outide an HOA
2) Close to work (Not any farther than I live now)
3) On enough land that I could build a separate garage on.

Well we found a house that met 2 of the 3. But the 3rd requirement was met since it already had an extra 2.5 garage built in the back.

So that gives me a 2 car garage built onto the house and a 2.5 in the back for a workshop.

The house was built in 1981 and hasn't seen a lick of updating except for the hot water heater, A/C, Roof. Those sorts of things. As for the living areas, they have been untouched. It's 1600sqft, 3 Bedroom, 2 Bath, 2 Family rooms, Dining Room and Laundry Room with slop sink.

This is the house before we bought it. These pics were taken during my walk through. We have since moved in and started working on things.

Nice man! I love that all older homes all have a different look than the neighbors homes. I hate that most of the house on my block all look similar to mine other than being different colors and a couple different things landscaping wise. Part I'm most jealous about is the separate shop you're gonna have! Congrats bud

I agree, I like older homes too. Just the way they were built seems more sturdy. The best thing about this home is it was a one owner home and the old guy died so it was an estate sale. So it's not like it has been molested over the years. It's all original construction.

Last week, I spent most of the time painting the office, putting a built in crafts desk in the closet, redoing all the outlets and switches, ceiling fan, hanging curtains and replaced carpet in the office. Today, I need to hang one more curtain rod, cut some glass for the desk and it will be done. (minus the door which will be done with the rest of the house).

Unfortuneatly the garages won't be touched until mid Jan. The front garage might get finished and the back garage won't be touched until the fall when I return from my next deployment. But it's gonna be nice for sure. Lift and tons of cabinets.

Damn...Tampa is expensive. I bought my house 1800sq/ft with 2 car carport (now garage), corner lot, nice size yard, updating in some of the rooms, 3br, 2b for 118k. Its crazy how depending on geography the prices change so much

Nice house btw - 2nd garage can come in very handy

He relocated to Pinellas County next to Tampa which costs more then Tampa real estate would. Nice foundation to start from Bruce if you got any work you need help with just let me know.

I like it and it looks like it has tons of potential, congrats Bruce! That back garage will be great.

We close on ours the 27th....just luckily this one won't require the amount of work our first one did....I hope!

Nope, they took it!

Spent yesterday climbing through the attic installing speaker wire and running a coaxial cable to the master bedroom. The hooked all the electronics up in the living room.

Today, I will finish all that, then move on to shelving the master bedroom closet.

My wish list for my next house is similar, but add in one more stipulation that I cannot see any of my neighbors from any door or window of my house. Are you going to be putting up a fence down that left side? Nice garage.
