They pop right out easy pesy.

Lol for some reason mine shattered completely with the slightest pressure. The dull grey circular area the black vent cylinder goes in, not the chrome ring or the vent cylinder itself. Had to buy a replacement dash section, cut the part out and epoxy it into place. Pain in the ass. Hate the chrome though.

That sucks big time. Mine just poped right out, I used a flat tip with a towel over it to pry them up very carefully.

yes it does, popes right off so you can paint them. Getting blinded by the chrome is why I painted mine.

Ive broken two of them so saying that they Pop right off is not quite accurate.
:2cents:
The chrome rings have 3 tabs on them.
You need to pull the tube out (which has two tabs) as it is attached to the tube. Once removed from the dash you have to lift up on its tabs from the back side of it to remove it from the tube.
I lift one tab till it clears the clip then lift another. With two of the three cleared it will separate & come right off the tube.
Failure to do so will exponentially increase the odds that you break it.

I used a small screwdriver to pull the tabs up.

I poped out the dash part with the chrome molding and taped up everything I didn't want to paint.

Any pics of this "shitty" work?

it's hard to tell in the cellphone pics as i could get "good" lighting. but the texture just wasn't what i wanted it to be. i wanted a smooth matt black and all some came out ok but was very blotchy looking and feeling i was able to sand it to smooth it out half way decent. some of it was very rough. i trade sanding it with even 320 and could get it to smooth out much. i may look into getting the stuff i want hydro dipped. or get like is aid the bullit dash. i'm horrible at painting i might have it professionally done

anyways here's the pics. the beer was lunch in 100+ degree weather. didn't even wait to get home walked to 7/11 and popped it open in the parking lot lol.

Thanks for resurrecting this thread... Totally doing this this week! Can't decide on gloss or flat black. I don't have a very, and my cars black... I was thinking of painting other interior parts gloss black, so I guess that's my answer... But, what if I did the vents flat and the rings gloss? Any suggestions?
