S197 Brembo pads won't work with the new calipers and vice versa. The retaining holes aren't spaced the same.

Rotor vs rotor. S550 hat is much taller than the S197. The S550 caliper will not bolt up with the S550 rotor on the S197 hub. There isn't any room for it to slide between the rotor and spindle. The S550 rotor also contacts the dust shield, which I was too lazy to remove because I knew it wouldn't work anyway.

And caliper vs caliper. I didn't get any measurements because I forgot and it started sprinkling outside, so I wasn't going to stand in the rain and rip it all apart again. The angle might make it look like the S550 are way bigger than the S197, and it's true. They're huge compared to the S197 Brembo. I tried my best to get them lined up.

Awesome, I have a set of s197 brembos sitting in my garage right now. I am debating if I should put them up for sale or no to get these lol. I think I might wait and see what ED says about the lines.

I was going to go with the brembos but now id rather go this route. There is a good write-up on Svtp on how to get reman brembos from autozone on the cheap, but they work out to be the same price as these.

If the rotor offset is different, I don't see how it's possible the S550 calipers will work with S197 rotors on an S197 without some sort of spacer/s. If the rotor sits more inward, the caliper likely also sits more inward.

My 14" Baer 6 piston rotors have a different offset than GT500 14" rotors, and I can't mix/match the GT500 and Baer calipers because of it.

I'm curious to see how this pans out.

maybe i'm retarded but there isnt a rotor from 05-09 you could use with the 2015 calipers and pads that would fit?

i ubderstand why the 15 rotor doesnt work with the difference in depth.

Yea the off set of the rotor is different but the spindle and hub are different from an s197 also. The rotor offset could compensate the difference?

No they are using the brembo rotors. Nothing off an 05-09.

The 05-14 Brembo/GT500 rotors bolted right up just fine. Looks like they would work perfectly.

The S550 Calipers are MASSIVE!!!!

Holy smokes.

Yeah, I think if I were putting my car through handling duty paces...I'd try out the larger mass S550 Calipers.

Parts have arrived here, so hopefully in the next few nights I can get a chance to test-fit them on my Brembo-swapped 07 GT ... I need to put fresh pads and rotors on the front of the car before the next track day anyway, so this will give me an excuse to get at it.

cheers

Any pics of the rotor offset to the caliper? I'm just curious as to how it works out

I have the parts now, but probably no time this week to do anything with them ... All-Fords at Carlisle is this weekend, I'm leaving Friday morning and the next few nights I need to make sure that my recently purchased 88 Turbo Coupe is up to the 7 hour drive.

So hopefully early next week I can get to trying this on my 07.

cheers

Won't derail the thread with a bunch of unrelated pics, here's a link for anyone who gives a rat's ass ...

Nick, I'll see how the availability is on this stuff, guessing that it might have to come from the Detroit depot which usually takes 3 - 4 business days. Will keep you posted.

One of the cleanest T/C's I've seen in 25 years. NICE.

Yes, you wouldn't know that it has 200,000 miles on it, paid $5000 for it this spring. P.O. had the repaint done properly, all glass out, engine removed, proper respray. Seats need to be redyed, the cloth is faded, but other than it's good. Underneath is extremely solid for a car from this area.

Im also curious if this was to work, what wheels would fit, i bought 18x10 sve drifts with the sole purpose of clearing the s197 4p brembos but these s550 calipers are nearly twice the size lol
