Just a minor update on this ancient thread. I contacted Tremec earlier this week regarding availability of the S197 T-56 Magnum. The answer I was given was "It'll be in full production by summer 2011"

Short answer as it was explained to me: Sales department takes all these emails and requests to the bigwig department and says, "We can sell an assload of them." Bigwig department then sits around with calculators trying to figure out how many they need to sell so they can all retire to the Swiss Alps with a Victoria's Secret model off the profits. As you may surmise....this takes a while. Then the sales guys come back and say, "We've got pre-orders for an assload of these things." Bigwig guys again whip out the calculator and the V.S. catalog and commence jerking off for another six months.

Don't hold your breath.
