Saw this same trans at the autorama in Houston. Looks very nice... want!

Lemme guess.... the jeep was running a 3" or better lift kit?

After my experiance with my Jeep, I think they are a bad idea for a high performace street car. Just an opinion... doesn't mean I don't know what I am talking about.

Yep, 6"... but I had a custom AL DS made for it that was made to fit. Guess it didn't work as well as I hoped. The slip yoke eliminator kit was the right way to go for sure.

FYI, these are commercially available now. I saw a bunch of them in a transmission shop's warehouse yesterday. I'll be replacing my clunky 6060 with a T56 Magnum in a week or two. They make two models:
  • TUET11011: 2.97, 2.10, 1.46, 1.00, 0.74, 0.50, Rev 2.90
  • TUET11010: 2.66, 1.78, 1.30, 1.00, 0.80, 0.63, Rev 2.90
I'll probably be getting the latter.

I think those are the ones for the previous model stang. They are on Summit Racing and show their application as 1992 - 2009 which leads me to believe they are the ones that have been on Summit for a while now.

Good to know, thanks.

The shop guy tells me they're the same except for the newer ones being sized for the 5.0 engines. I'm gonna try to confirm that.

Edit: yeah, the new one has the same internals as the current T56, just a different shifter location. I guess I'm waiting until September.

Good thread. Can't wait to hear more. I'd love to have a six speed. I put in a request with American Muscle to see what they say. Looks like they have complete kits to do install. Not sure if that's right or not, but inquiry sent.

Exactly why i picked up a 6060 for a great deal, cause i got tired of waiting!

Im more than happy with the decision I made, now I just got to see if there is someone in NJ who can polish the gears in it for an even smoother shift.

So this will be available in September? I cant find anything on a release date! Thanks

You would think that TREMEC would do a much better job of keeping us all informed about where this is at. For example why the delay, if there is a chance it won't be released, estimate on price, etc. Absolutely piss poor marketing in my opinion. There is going to be a really good market if they would just get if f*in done.

I gave up on this and just went with a built 6060 from Liberty and even got them to change out my 5th and 6th gear ratios to match the new 6060s .74 and .50
