Sorry guys. I am for sure going with the 4.6 build. I got the short block torn down and should have everything back from the machine shop this week. Major items that still need to be purchased include Comp cams (will either be 127500 or 127550), JBA longtubes, prothane billet motor mounts, clutch and gear stuff for rear end. Hopefully will have the shortblock together this week. Here's some pics of the motor torn down. I probably need to have the title changed of this thread now lol

Im just ready to have a reliable car again lol.

Im also planning on purchasing a house this year so Im just trying to get her back going and I can add a power adder sometime later in the year, maybe some nitrous or something (still having a built bottom end will add to the possibilities). I did put a GT500 fuel system in it so it will be able to support a good amount on pump.

And not as of now on the Mach. She is on the same path as I am. We are just trying to get almost everything paid off so we can get us a house lol.

woah, just read this whole thing RJ and damn man do I feel upset, happy, sorry, etc lol. I was like you debating about the coyote swap even after I built my 3v ongoing turbo soon and everyone just says stick with the 3v. So it's what I am doing. Glad to see you have a come back plan though for sure!

Thanks man. It definitely sucks but selling the turbo was the only option right now. Paying another 4k out of pocket to rebuild the motor again just wasn't in the cards.

Getting the car running so I can enjoy it is priority number one lol. I will be getting the short block and powder coat tomorrow most likely.

I completely understand, gotta do what you gotta do! At least to get it running again and enjoy it for a while.

Since you sold most of your turbo stuff, do you have anything left over I might benefit from?

Also some odd news I found out from the machine shop that did my motor this time (different than last time). Using the stock crank polished with stock replacement bearings the rod bearing clearance was .008 which is .001 tighter than the tightest clearances Ford allows for. Makes me wonder if that's how tight they were on the last motor as well. The machinist I had do the work on the last two motors has proven to be incompetent in his recording of information when setting up clearances and obviously in the process itself. The new machine shop had to hone the big end of the rods to get the clearance where we wanted it and they are now set up at .019 and the mains are .021-.023. Overall I am happy with the way that the new machine shop conducted themselves and presented information to me. They did also hone the block .001 over to clean up the cylinder walls for the rings and they are now spotless. When I picked up the parts they said they currently had 24 complete engines they were working on and there were a few $30k big blocks they had built that were on display. Having an engine dyno also gives me some confidence about their abilities.

Congrats buddy! So you reused the Mahle Flat tops and just cleaned up the bore? These are .030 over correct?

No sir this is a completely new motor with 7k miles on it. So it is only .001 over stock with stock sized pistons. It just made everything easier since I needed the other components like crank and stuff too.

Thanks! Me too! It feels like I really havent taken my car to much last year since it was only running for about 4 months. Hopefully we can do the normal Somerset deal a few times this summer!
