Absolutely you can (and often should) change the dial in. I typically don't write mine on the window until just before I'm ready to roll into the water box. I consider the most recent prior pass, what the weather has done since then, how long the car has had to cool, etc. Only then do I decide what to dial for that next run.Can you settle this? I've had two people tell me it's ok to change your dial-in and two others tell me it's not. I was going to ask a track official last night but the oppertunity never presented itself.
Well, piecing it together from other threads - he appears to have raced in drag and had sex with his transmission, but I am a little fuzzy on the details - come'on Roper tell us what happened? :worth:oh no. what happened?
Woohoo!Got me another Winner's Cup
Rut-roh...maybe at the cost of a tranny
Knocking on 12s!best run: .013 r/t, 13.050 at 102.463
On the one hand I want to express sympathy, I know first hand how difficult blowing a transmission can be and would not wish that on anyone...I was a total bonehead.
I've been guilty of those things once or twice way back when. But, I've since changed my staging routine to try to control said boneheadedness. After I light up the prestage bulb, I look down and double check: (1) that the shifter position is in D, (2) that OD is off, (3) that TCS is off, (4) that the heater/AC is off, and (5) that my line lock and fan switches are off. It only takes a couple seconds to do that, and only then do I roll into the stage beam.I was a total bonehead. First run I did my burn out in 1st gear, then staged the car. Launched with a .019 r/t but didn't think to put it in "Drive" till I was well past the 60' marker. Second run I wasn't going to make that mistake again, did my burnout in 1st, then shifted up to FRIKKIN 3rd instead of Drive. I counted clicks but didn't look to verify. Got out of the hole (in 3rd) and the car was a dog.
Make sure you swap out with someone's dead alternator while you are at it...I wonder if my warranty will cover it? I'll ask Hawgman...
...best to scrub the burnt rubber off the rear quarters...
