I just picked up my 2012 stang two weeks ago, and as always tires shined the shit out of it. So I decided to give her a wash to day and wiped off where the tire shine was on the bumper and it left behind some small brown dots that will not come off, I tried polish and no luck. Is there something I can try that won't hurt the paint? I don't want to have to take it back to the dealer lol.....and don't know if it messed up the clear in that area. Just my luck....

Thanks Ricky

Clay bar it. Tire shine is not going to hurt the clear coat.

Yea, I wouldn't have thought it would.......I'll try to clay it, hope it works, the stains are pretty tuff. I don't know what the dealer used on it.....

Can you take a photo of it? My guess is whatever is on there isn't from the tire shine. I just can't see why the tire shine would of caused anything like that.

There is a brown "dot" type of fallout from trees. It can be very easy to remove and I've something that looks nearly identical but needed to be clayed to be removed.

As far as what they are using. The cheapest thing they can get their hands on that is water based. LOL

I have seen several "Tire Shine" products actually stain and or do something similar to what he is talking about but I agree it would be nice to see some pictures because it could vary well be those pesky pollen dots.

They create a brown dot? What products would those be?

Does said product exist? Not one that you don't want. I know they exist. The ones that create the infamous brown dot from this thread..

I have experienced the brown dot McGillcutty but this was years and years ago on my Olds. The car was light briar brown in color and I noticed the dots on the rear quarters after using some tire dressing and driving before it was dry. It never became a problem because I noticed in right away and always wiped it clean.

Ill try to snap some pic's tonight when I get home, Im also going to pick up a clay bar kit and pray it will work. Most people wouldn't look that close but the fact I know it's there is killing me. I would hate to have to wet sand it out, and mess it up even more.

If a claybar can fix it, wet sanding wont be needed.

I'd borrow a PC and a polishing pad if the claybar doesnt work.

Well guys I tried the clay and got 95% of the staining off. I worked on the rear bumper and the front bumper for a total of three hours. My arm feels like it is going to fall off lol. The main thing is I got the stains off the main part of the bumpers, there are only a few tiny little stains that are on the very inside lip on the back of the rear bumper. Im going to try polish/possibly buff the rest carefully and see if that helps. I got it to where only I would ever see it :thumb2:. Thanks for all the feed back guys. I went to take before pic's but as usual my camera is dead when I need it.
