Reading these detailing post's has got me motivated to piece together a detailing arsenal.
I started with a Meguiar's G110v2 DA, along with various pad's, I also purchased the DA Micro Fiber Correction System w/5.5" backing plate and a Gilmour Foam Gun. To compliment my tool's I added Chemical Guy's Citrus Wash, DP Xtreme Wash, Meguiar's Hyper Dressing, Optimum Instant Detailer, Optimum No Rinse, Poorboy's Trim Restorer, XMT Pad cleaner and conditioner, Black Fire Wet Diamond and some Natty's Blue Wax. I also got about 3 dozen new Micro Fiber towel's. Yesterday I ordered some 303 Protectant, CG Grime Reaper, Dodo Juice Purple Haze, Poorboy's World Bug Squash, Sonax Wheel Cleaner, some more pad's and applicator's.
Can you think of anything else that might be useful ?
I think this should keep me busy for some time to come.

Why did you paint the side of your car to look like the driveway? :)

Looks awesome !

I just ordered the the GG kit from amazon that is on sale for $120. I get the feeling I've just opened another money pit .

I spent 2-3 hours washing and trying to get the spots out of the wifes car (black of course) and didnt succeed but did get it looking pretty good from a few feet away. Woke up the next day to cat foot prints on it from end to end...

In retrospect, I wish I had gone with the Griot's nothing wrong w/Meguiars, just should have researched more. Oh, and double sweetness on the pussy prints LMAO !

not sure if you can veiw the pics if your not a member?
the dude list what was used i guess he owns a detailing business
http://www.502streetscene.net/forum/showthread.php?t=188429

That's Phil from Detailer's Domain. He owns DetailersDomain.com and he does detailing for customers as well. Phil is the man. All he did was use a strong citrus based cleaner to remove any wax, etc. Than used Iron-X to strip the iron containment from the paint.

Where did you see that? Seen him use a whole lot of different products.

Surprised if he doesn't. If you follow his posts on other websites, he must drink the stuff.

Know of any other good citrus degreasers for removing wax?

I know of the CG Citrus Wash and Clear concentrated with water trick.

You got that right. It seems to never end.

Doug (Peaky85) referred me over here from AutoGeek.net forums. It is like performance mods. Once you get started, it never ends.

You will be happy with the Griots polisher. It has plenty of power and therefore paint correcting ability. It will take some practice and likely help from experienced users. Once you get the hang of it, making your baby look fantastic becomes fun and easy.

I've been AG a few times and have been paralyzed by too much information as to what get started with. Then this Amazon deal pops and it looks like a good starter kit, good hrdware and simple to use products. And so it begins...

Are you talking about the 6in machine polish and wax kit for $120?

If so, that is a decent start. Washing techniques aside, this kit has the basics. Paint clay and lube (speed shine) are essential. The polisher is the prize of the kit. It has one polishing pad and one wax pad, a very mild polish and a great looking, but, difficult to work wax.

I assume you already have a decent supply of washing supplies and microfiber towels. I am assuming your paint is in pretty good shape as well. If so, you are ready to start at a basic machine polishing level with this kit. You can remove light swirls and bring a decent gloss to the paint.

Once you get the hang of using what you have, then there will be a huge selection of products available to take it to the next level if you desire. There are polishes that are much stronger and will take out deeper swirls and light scratches.

If you have factory clearcoat paint on your car, the mequiars dual action micofiber kit (I prefer the 5.5 inch) is awesome. It is easy to work with and yields beautiful results. Here is a link to a thread about my first experience with the Megs MF kit. IT is on my daughter's 2003 V6 Mustang. You can see my GT500 in the last pic.

http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/show-n-shine/35500-my-new-mustang-finally.html

For factory or nonfactory paint, the meguiars other polishes such as M105/205 and Ultimate Compound / Ultimate Polish are great polishes. Also Menzerna makes great polishes.

You will probably eventually need more foam pads. They come in different firmness representing different aggressiveness.

If this is all overwhelming, let me know. I would be glad to help. Once you get the hang of the lingo and acronyms, Autogeek really is a good source of information.
