Alright. I originally had 2 12" 10Kicker CVR's in my car in a Zenclosure box.

I took them out a couple months back because I hated the sound quality with the Kicker's. Yes, they hit hard...with hip-hop music and dubstep. But with rock and the blues music I listen to the quality sucked ass.

I wanted to go with some Image Dynamic subs (my component set is an ID CTX65CS) but they're no longer in business for lengthy reasons.

What sub would you guys recommend that sound best in our cars given the box above?

I have a Kicker ZX750.1 to work with, which is what I used on the Kicker's I had in the car.

I kind of want to go with a JL Audio Stealthbox (13W6), but I really don't care to drop 1 grand on something like that considering I already have a box. That money could be put towards the 4.10's and Exedy clutch I want.

Thanks, fellas!

I'm looking at two JL 12W3's as a possibility. I really don't want to upgrade the amp since it's practically new. I'm also looking into Elemental Designs and RE Audio.

I've never heard of Digital Designs.

type r's cheap and good

No offense, but I'm not really interested in anymore of that bottom line stuff. I want something that can pound, but also sound good while doing it.

No Apline Type-Rs, no more Kicker stuff, no Rockford Fosgate, no Kenwood or Sony, MTX etc.

Yes i had 2 3500 series 15's in a 2000 Blazer powered by 2 Kicker KX1000's. I loved them but that was in my younger days. Im going to buy a 2500 series 10 for the mustang and build a custom box for it powered off of a ZX750.1. Kicker makes great amps and L7 subs buts thats about it.

Pulled the trigger on two JL 12W3v3's today. Hopefully they'll pound in that box with the ZX750.1 powering them. :beerdrink:

I think its still going to be too over powering,i also had kickers in my car but had to get rid of them cause the quailty just wasn't there. The kickers sounded great in the hatchback cougar but the trunk space in the stangs are too small. Think your going to be better off with one speaker or maybe a bass remote might help.

You're probably right. But at least this music will make my ears bleed:

And this is how much room I had with the same box when I had the Kickers:

What's the internal volume of each enclosure for your Kickers?
How much power are you feeding them.

Doh... old thread lives... sorry
Glad you like the new subs!

more power than needed is never a bad thing... it's called headroom.
less power however, is.:hi:

I would recommend Digital Designs. Since you already have ID components look around you still might be able to there subs brand new for cheap.

Haha. These JL subs I purchased are way better than the Kickers that I had. I can actually hear/feel the drums in my rock and blues music. I'm pleased with them thus far.

Kicker Solo baric 12" l7

if you cant aford a w7...

Solobaric L7 is my fav sub.

I would think a L7 to be overkill in a Mustang, yes? How would you get a ported box big enough to fit in the trunk? lol And I didn't necessarily want something that people 4 blocks away could hear (my exhaust setup already does that for me). :boobies:

And here is how the JLW3's look like that I purchased. They could probably take a little more power than the Kicker 750.1 is putting out. They're also a perfect match per the JL recommended sealed box volume and the volume of each chamber of the box (1.25ft^3).

Digital Designs!!!!

^oh you guys beat me to it. my buddy had TWO DD 18's!!!

DD is arguably one of the best if not the best.

The 9500 series is a great choice. http://www.ddaudio.com/mobile-audio/woofers/9500-series.aspx

The magnets on these things are huge.

Holy shit. Huge is an understatement!
