Last week we had a good customer and friend of ours Tim Porter leave with his 2011 Shelby GT500 UBB Mustang. Tim is a promoter of the Cannon Ball run and Great American race. A few years ago he came to us for an engine and parts to build a 700 RWHP GT500 which he dubbed the UBB. Now UBB stands Ultimate Bad Boy edition Mustang and with this car he competed in his event and went on across the world with the car showing it off to high end clients for a possible resale edition of the car. Fast Foward to present day and Tim now has a big following amoung his group and more than a few individuals who are looking at buying these UBB cars. So Tim went out and bought a new 2011 Shelby GT500 and drove it from California to our shop in Freehold NJ for a 1000 BHP transformation!!

Right off the bat I knew we wanted to use the 4.0L whipple, the end all be all of Superchargers for a Shelby GT500! Along with the 4.0 monster we added 80lb injectors, PHP modified fuel pump assembly, Whipple 123mm air intake, Kooks full exhaust, and a AFCO heat exchanger. This we knew would be enough to get Tim close to 1000 HP at the engine on 93 octane. We decided that if he was going to make this power with ease and give the car the aggressive tone he was looking for that we had to add a set of our custom grind NHRA spec Cobra Jet Superstock cams that we run in Roy Hill and several other of the worlds fastest Cobra Jet mustangs. With these cams in the car any one who pulls up next to Tim at a Stop light will wonder if the are on a public road or at the drag strip! These cams really give the car the thump and sound that will make anyone stop and turn their head to see whats coming!

It took a little longer than a week to install all the parts and give everything the extra special attention to detail that Tim was looking for but the end result was one of the most powerful street cars we've ever had leave our shop. Tim's car netted 801 RWHP and 650 LBFT of Torque!! This was done on a safe 93 octane street tune. With this same combination in Roy Hill's Cobra Jet we have made over 970 RWHP on C16 Race fuel.

Now dont be suprised to see this car in future Magazine articles or internet videos as Tim is a big promoter of the UBB brand and Cannon ball events. If all goes according to his plan he would like to make an additional 25 UBB Mustangs for 2012 and plans to offer a 700HP package 5.0L Mustang GT version of the car as well. You can see in some of the pictures I posted its dressed up with a Carbon Fiber hood and splitters as well as some custom 18" wheels. The car also has UBB 1000BHP stickers which replaced the factory shelby stripes on the side of the car. For any for information about Tim's car or the parts we installed on it contact Team JDM at 732-780-0770!!!

Thanks,

Enjoy the pictures!!

Yes its the stock bottom end and heads, we only cracked the motor open to drop in the cams. We are a little concerned about the bottom end but it should handle it. We need to go to a bigger MAF and bigger fuel lines/rails if he wants to make any more power on pump gas.

Thanks everyone!

For reference, Daves car makes about 800RWHP on e85 with a stock GT500 motor at 20psi.

My guestimates would put this at 24+ psi of boost easily, which means timing would have to be close to single digits.

I jsut dont see how it could be making that power on pump gas and live.

We are running 18 psi on the car, most of the boost pressure is relieved from not having cats and the cams we installed. Im not sure what timing is in it but Ill confirm that with my father and let you guys know.

We are pretty concerned about the stock motor as well, we backed the timing down a couple of degrees after we made 800 with the car just to be safe. With the power this car is making though if we put some race fuel in it it would probably be alot closer to 900 RWHP!!:boobies:

they must be some big ass cams

My car with a 4.0L Whipple, 19 psi, low timing (17.5* peak) E85, Ford GT Cams, LTs and 3" Magnaflow exhaust made 770/680. or I just had a real conservative tune.......... :headscratch:

Compaired to the GT cams these are some big ass cams! You've got to keep the tune conservative with this much power on a stock motor

Yeah, I was wondering because everything I've seen has 800 RWHP as pushing the limit. Interested to see how this holds up in the long run.

Well as the owner Tim puts it "The motor will take a proper beating, and if it blows up we will have to price a forged bottom end for it" He is planning to run the car at high rates of speed, test it up to 200mph, it has a full suspension setup for road coarse driving with coil overs on all four corners. So I dont think we'll see blister drag times from the car but I bet it would run in the 140mph+ range.

However like I mentioned we pulled back a few degrees of timing so he's probably sitting on 30 less HP.

Unless he's got some weight reduction I doubt he'll trap 140+, unless it is in some serious mine shaft air.

and 200??? it he does, IMO, that motor will be windowed by a rod

I think that's plenty enough power for this car to slide down the 1/4 mile at that mph, I didn't say the et would he all that great but with this kind of RWHP it could. My 06 spleen with 657rwhp went 143 so i don't see why not. We'll see what happens with the motor, if he doesn't get any detonation I think it might last a little while....but all it takes is a little ping and she's done

How much did your GT weigh?

I trapped 139 at around 800 whp in poor air.
