I went back and re-read that thread start to finish. Couple of things come to mind.

1. Never got the datalog answer so I am guessing no.
2. Did the owner always user 91/93 octane in the car?

This may have been that 1 in 60K kind of deal where there was a legitimate issue but as others have stated, we would all like to know what preceded it. It is unrealistic to think we will get all the info needed to review and some will take it at face value while other's will not.

Either way, back on the original discussion, 99% of 5.0 cars with ring land failures are caused by bad tunes.

93 since day one.
And I doubt the sole cause of these failures was the bad tune. Did it aid in the failure yea probably, but it was more than likely going to happen.

On a side note. When he got his car back less than 2 weeks later it went back in for a head gasket. They covered that under warranty as well.

I believe you and I have met in person before Dan. Dyno day last March at Colvin's? Does that ring a bell? The guy who tunes my car was with me as well and believe I put down the best 5.0 numbers of the day by a good margin.

It's your business if you want to run their tunes. I certainly will not be using them. If someone were to ask me which canned tune I would choose, it would be in order of:

1. Lund
2. VMP
3. Livernois

Notice no BBR or Bama on that list and I have my reasons.

I dont think I was at that dyno day because I havent dyno'd mine yet. You talking bout the last dyno day?

March of 2011. Mark was there. I though I recall meeting you there and eating at Plucker's afterwards.

I ha e to agree. I will not run a banana tune. I have got other stuff from them. BBR tune they sent for my blower wad crap. All kinds issues. Lund worked with my tuner and fixed them all. Even with my new car he said we need any help let him know. We didn't as he explained a few things about the way the new computers are to my tuner. BbR told me I needed a new MAF which I didn't. Lund fixed that also. So now I have a useless Maf. Which don't work unless I send it to be flow matched with my maf housing to pro-m. Least they said they would do that free.

What do you mean by that?
because this board is Lund or gtfo, so many Lund nut swingers on this board, even when a Lund tuned 5.0 lunched a #8 (omg yes it has happened with a Lund tune) they blame it on the fact the car previously had another tune on it smh

No, Colvin's Automotive. Downtown Austin. Maxwell Dodge is the other place you are thinking of.

I think I may have you confused with Doug..... :(

Lol!

If you knew anything about tuning you wouldn't have the same perspective.

BTW - the fastest 5.0's on the planet have been tune by again?

No Lund nut swinger here. But I sure as heck love my VMP tune. And I wouldn't run a Bama tune if it was free. Free tunes for life because it may take them that long to get it right. Want to know why no one else warranties their tune against #8 failure? Because they don't need to. Plus Bama uses it as a selling point to guys that really don't know any better.

After a 57 message email thread between me, Chris Rose, and Mike Wilson I gave up on the Bama tune ever being right for my mild bolt-on '11 GT. Lund got it dead perfect the first time. YMMV.

I dont know how y'all get any support from Lund, he never would do shit for me. Tried to send him datalogs he blows them off saying I don't need to log his shit. Car ran like shit on his tune, then got off road pipe and ask for update he tells me its already set up. Really had cats on for original tune. Then get a boss manifold, ask for updated tune, once again tells me its already set up for that. Timing was at high 20's to low 30's at the top of the rpm range and showing knock pulling like 5 degrees. He tells me that's OK. Live link shows false knock.

Maybe all y'all guys that pay him 300 for a fi tune have better luck. But NA he don't give a shit about a 100 tune customer.

I actually didn't pay nothing for his help. He just helped us out.

Ive read this all too often about him, seems like an arrogant man imo, he'll always have his dedicated followers no matter how he treats people, and as I said earlier, even when his tunes do lunch a #8 it was obviously the fault of another tune...........

Thats exactly what he told me. They guy is HORRIBLE with ppl. Half the time I send an email I think he fwds it to some of his monkeys...

When I got my headers I sent Mike a tune update request then asked if he would dyno tune it for me. He sent me a tune and said there was no real need for a dyno because he is spot on. Well a couple weeks went by and I made it up to American Muscle and he dyno tuned it for me. Yup, I only picked up 5 HP from the email tune to the dyno tune.
Oh and I forgot to add that he didnt charge me for the dyno or time.
He told me to get ahold of him if I get cams or procharger that he will throw it on the dyno again......for free...

Yes he is, along with everyone at Evolution. Meet up with them at Cecil one night and had a few questions about their car. It was like an interrogation just for the big guy to answer a simple question....

What has BBR 900+whp 5.0 ran..;)

And hey Bama has a fast v6..lol
I have never seen that car lay a number down. They broke it at the line at KOTS.

NO one is infallible. Lund has his fans because he consistently does good work.

As to his service, IMO has nothing to do with arrogance p, has to do with demand. He may just not have enough time, tuning is not his sole profession, I've had good service. Sometimes it does take more than one email to get him, however, I have always gotten the needed update.

I spoke with him at Atco last year, was a great guy to talk with, since he is in NYC a lot I hope to have lunch with him sometime this year.
