I want to say black with white stripe but I may have it backwards, but the colors are right and that is what I used and it dims perfectly. Let me go check right quick.

drive with just your fogs. they're plenty bright enough. that is if the gauge gets too bright for ya.

oop nevermind. just realized black with white stripe isn't the headlight specific wire.

Just wanted to point out that on my 2006 GT my dimmer wire is not black/white... it is green with a blue stripe. Just and FYI.

help. im installing a innovate motorsports A/F gauge and it says to NOT CONNECT IT TO A DIMMER SWITCH the instructions instead specify "a headlight power wire( a wire that supplies current to the headlights)." also says that connecting to a dimmer switch will cause the gauge to malfunction. any one know witch wire i need to connect it to?

I gave up trying to hook my Autometer Fuel Pressure Gauge to the dimmer system. Never worked right throughout the rotation of the wheel. It was either full bright, slightly dim from brith, blinking off or on, or fully bright again at the other end of the rotation. Now I just put a piece of black tape over it when it gets annoying.

Eventually, I'll put a knob type resistor/switch into the car by the OBDII connector and be done with it.

im not looking to hook it up to any kind of dimmer, the gauge has an auto dimming feature when the headlights are turned on if it is connected to a wire that supplies current to the headlights, if i dont want the gauge to dim its an option to just ground the wire and it will stay bright all the time.
