It's never flattering to be ripped off, sorry. Your never going to find a manufacturer who was ripped off that is flattered.
Money is lost, that's never flattering.
I find it funny UPR was "trying" to defend themself in the resurection of this thread until the companies they ripped off asked them questions.
I'm proud to say I innovate, you can't ever say "I'm proud to copy, lie, cheat or steal."
And that's the crux of it right there.
We're proud of what we do, and how hard we work to bring products to market. We have shown how we not only innovate the new products and designs, but also do it at a price point that copycats can't even match with their "ginormous" buying power that they claim to have as an advantage (which they don't, but that's another discussion...)
It's strange that those who claim to copy products "for the little guy" have no valid defense of their actions, no defense of how or why they put little guys out of business (not us, but others) rather than partnering with them (like we do), and no defense of what they do with all the extra money we have shown that they are taking off the table.
I, Jay, and others that live and breathe our products that we design will gladly defend our positions, as well as our principles and morals as to how we conduct ourselves in business. I go out of my way to avoid "stepping on toes" whenever possible be it trademarked / patented or not. Our philosophy as to how we treat other businesses in the industry has led to more business opportunities for our company to the point where we are now hiring another degreed Mechanical Engineer / programmer to keep up with demand for existing and new products, and starting a second shift to keep up with orders both within and outside the Mustang aftermarket.
Yet when asked point blank if UPR even has one engineer as a contract employee, there is no answer, but their employees have time to talk about what they did for dinner...

While I was gone, I finally got the chance to grille some steaks. It was the first time in over two years, since we left our grille back home when we moved to Florida. Anyway, I grilled three fat Ribeye steaks and my wife made some kick butt potatoes, broc & cheese, and baked bread. It was awesome. Now that I'm stuffed to my heart's content, I guess it's time to wrap up my last hour of work for the day. Please forgive my absence.
So when they miss just one important detail when copying a suspension or drivetrain or safety component, because they don't put any effort or heart into their products that they blatantly plagarize from others, remember it's you that ultimately has to deal with the consequences of it. And if it's one of our appearance products, when they copy it and it doesn't even fit right, remember you have to defend the purchase to your friends when they notice it on your car... as one of but many examples:
Ours (first to market, original design):
Theirs - taken by a customer when they thought they had purchased our part due to deceptive advertising...
You decide if their huge buying power helped this customer, or if us stepping up and replacing it with one of our pieces for this Shelby owner made the difference...
