Nxt is one of the better store bought products. Has tons of fillers in it. Put the liquid glass in the garbage.

Ya lava is a little pricey but to be honest I am wondering why cg priced it so low for what it is.

Liquid Glass is gone. Thanks brother!

Clay bar:

First, buy this backing plate if you do not already have it:

http://www.autoality.com/store/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=961&idcategory=282

This will allow you to run smaller foam pads, like the 5.5". I find you have more control and get a better correction with those, if not, the smallest you can run is the 6.5". You can buy the Meguiars specific surebuff pads but they tend to run more expensive and do the exact same thing as the following:

You'll need 2-3 of these polishing
http://www.autoality.com/store/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=602&idcategory=234

2-3 of these light cutting
http://www.autoality.com/store/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=603&idcategory=234

2-3 of these finishing/applicator pads
http://www.autoality.com/store/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=601&idcategory=234

Few of the snappy pad cleaners, just dump it into a 3-5 gal bucket (not one you use to wash the cars with), let your pads soak in it for a few hours and agitate them clean
http://www.autoality.com/store/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=150&idcategory=234

Meguiars #105 Compound (8oz)
http://www.autoality.com/store/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=512&idcategory=0

Meguiars #205 Finishing Polish (8oz)
http://www.autoality.com/store/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=514&idcategory=0

Basically use the #105 with an orange pad to compound and cut some of the swirls and water marks off of your vehicle.

Go back over it with the cyan pad and #205, and if you really want to jewel up the paint go over it again a third time with #205 and the red pad. If not, use the red pad to just apply liquid waxes/sealants with.

My recommendation for protecting that Race Red finish is as follows:

Chemical Guys Black Light, hybrid glaze/sealant. Will fill minor imperfections and offer protection
http://www.autoality.com/store/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=333&idcategory=0

Chemical Guys Lava Wax
http://www.autoality.com/store/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=841&idcategory=0

Chemical Guys V07 Spray Sealant/Detailer
http://www.autoality.com/store/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=331&idcategory=0

Process:
Once your finish is where you want it, apply Black Light with a red pad on speed 1. Remove it, apply a second coat.

Wait a day, Apply two coats of Lava, then spray V07.

Re-apply V07 after washes.

If you need specs on wash supplies etc, let me know, but you should be using two 5 gal buckets with grit guards to wash with and a ph neutral soap. I usually recommend maxi suds II.

Citrus Wash from CG is also very good but if mixed wrong can strip your surface of wax. It's great for starting over again though.

use coupon code: scsmember for 10% off...you'll also get free shipping. Tell him Seer sent you :D

I dont have a buffer like a porter cable yet..just dont have extra money for something like that at the moment, I do have a orbital buffer though. Could I use these steps with an orbital and get decent results? I dont think id need the #105 as my paints in pretty good shape. So could I just use the #205, blacklight, lava and V07?

for polishing and swirl removal, you won't get any results.

You can use black light and lava though.

Will that backing plate that you posted, Seer, work on a flex orbital? The description doesn't specify so I wanted to make sure. Was bouncing around between DI, Autogeek, and now autoality for piecing together a detail package. It now looks like autoality will be getting my business for a package almost identical to what you recommended to VTX Frank.

Seer, you're the man!!! :beerchug2:

No, you can only run the Flex backing plates on the Flex DA (3401), the Rotary is another story.

Flex makes a 5.5" (for 6.5" pads) and a 4.5" (for 5.5" pads) Backing plate. I believe the 5.5" is still standard on every flex DA, but I love my 4.5"

This is the smaller plate:

Not trying to highjack but about 4 weeks ago I used the CG BL two coats, and wiped down with the V07. I have wiped down with the V07 after each wash but am looking at getting the Lava. Do I need to strip it down and start over to put it on or can I just put the two coats of Lava on and then V07? Paint looks great now but the other two worked so well now I want the Lava on it lol

Btw this is on my 12 Black Gt/CS

It's four weeks old, it won't hurt you to strip it and restart.

+1 on Autoality, I learned of them via Seer also, and was highly pleased with the pricing and shipping. Great place. I definately plan on ordering through them again when I need more stuff.

Would this detailing plan be any different for Candy Apple Red? What are you really looking for when putting together a package for a specific color?

No different, as stated before, you're not really detailing a color. All products go on the clear coat. Just some colors show off a vehicle's lines better than others, which can change up which products you may want to use.

That's what I figured. Is it mostly just experience that allows one to choose certain products for certain colors?

It is truly what your desired outcome is.

Do you want highly reflective and durable appearance? Than most likely a synthetic / polymer sealant is what you are looking for.

Do you want a deep wet look with jetting and don't care about durability to an extent? Then most likely a carnauba wax is what you want.

Or run both, but you will get some muting of depth when combining a sealant with a carnauba.

Then you need to examine the different properties of the varying products within those categories. Some sealants are more reflective than others, some last longer. Some waxes look wetter, some give off a glow but don't last as long.

With experience, I've learned that the more expensive concours style waxes gave me more of the positive properties one would want in a show wax with durability. I've also learned that nano coatings are replacing synthetic sealants due to they reflect light better, last 24-48 months, protect against marring by about 200-300%.

Things change, the major two questions are: How much do you want to spend and what end result are you looking for?

Working in solutions and quality the triangle method still applies. Cost, Quality and Speed, pick 2.

Seer, I just want to thank you once again for your advice and help! I got the whole done today and man, it looks SO much better! I'll take some pictures when it doesn't look like we are about to be smashed by thunderstorms. I'll try to get the before pictures adjusted to show the water spots in the paint.

All it takes is time. Very, very easy stuff to work with! Goes on easy and comes off easy. I was very impressed!

if you like the pc7424 you should try the flex 3401 :D

I got the flex on advice from seer and never regret it. I upgraded from the porter cable and followed his advice on pads, chemicals, and etc and my car looked awesome!!!!
