true, but looking at past history, and given they've had a helluva good run.
I'm thinking mustang II - lulz... I sure as hell hope not.

One thing worth noting- most of the guys raving about the 5.0L after making the switch had light bolt-on 3Vs and now have light bolt-on 5.0Ls.

I test drove a 2012 awhile back, and going from my blown '05, it felt just 'OK'.
I did also ride in a bolt-on 2011 and was very impressed- it seemed to have a bit less low end then my car, but the top end was exceptional for the mild mods.

The Coyote and it's siblings absolutely kick the shit out of anything Ford released previously, but whether you really make the switch depends on all the stuff I laid out in my last post. It's not worth it for me at this point. I've got just over $20K total (including vehicle purchase price) in my '05, it still has low miles, and it's still plenty quick enough for me. In a few years when they're down in price I sure wouldn't mind having an 11+ with a blower on it though.

Obviously you must be telling a lie. Because if you had driven one of these supercars you would have already traded in your 3v on the spot. You mean to tell us your experience wasn't phenomenal?? How can this be?

I haven't driven one. Been in my buddy's 2011. I like the interior upgrades for the most part over the 05-09. I don't think it's night/day better. It's an incremental update in this regard. The difference going from a 2000GT interior to a 2005GT interior is a much bigger jump.

To me a boosted 5.0 is just another 600whp mustang GT. That's it.

Agree and yet another great point about bolt-ons vs true power adders.

lol - See that's how I've been looking at it too. I mean you can make any of them fast. And everything new just get's old. But it's nice to have it for awhile. I just wonder when the new design comes out how many will jump ship at that point and talk about how bad the "old" 5.0's are. It's just the way things are.
I do really like the interior upgrade, though my current is a GT Premium so like you said, it's not night and day, but a very nice improvement. I've yet to drive one also. I may go this weekend. If it doesn't impress the shit out of me, then I'll just boost my car.. Maybe thats how I can decide. I don't know. It would be nice to have a new car though. I've never owned any car new in my life except my wife's car, and that was her car. And I'm finally in a place where I can afford to do it.

You know what? Stay in a slow azz 3V that the new V6 will smoke.......these guys are right, nothing special about a 5.0 stock block capable of stupid power with just a blower...

Build yours up and stay in it forever.......that's smart

Listen to the ones that don't have a 5.0, because those of us that do just got them because we loved our old cars so much. Get used to looking at the new LEDs cause that's all youre gonna see in that dinosaur 3V. LOL JK

Whatever your decision is, id put it on paper before I did anything. Total cost vs total cost. Ill have close to 6k in upgrades to mine from exhaust to blower setup etc. Coudlve been cheaper if I only bought used but I think its quite realistic. I'm hoping I can run like a bolt on 5.0.

The power is nice; but I like 2 main things:
You can twist them up higher without fear
The transmission...oh what a lovely gearbox. The way the car is setup is geared super super deep too; so it's always in power. Toss in the 4v sound and the updates everywhere else and its a no brainier IF you were going to be in that deep anyhow.

Just think about what people will say about the old 3 valves then... The 5.0s are sick, over 400rwhp with minor boltons fuckin rocks.

I pulled the emergency chute on buying a 5.0 because I would rather get out of debt first:clap:

I had an easy decision, my car is a sexy bitch from every angle and plenty fast for my needs.
Get what will make you happy! and remember buying a car should always be about more than one attribute. You have to be IN LOVE with the car and pretty much everything about it.

I have a supercharger in the closet for when I really NEED that extra oomph though.
So far, no rush

IMO be happy with what you have. If you are always chasing the best mustang you will forever be trading in your car and one day wonder why you are in massive debt.

In the end, you need to do what you want to do. What fits your lifestyle and your checkbook the best.

I was close to a Supercharger and close to getting a newer 5.0. But, neither fit my daily needs. I drive 4 miles to work and 4 miles home. My car isn't the fastest, but I realized I didn't need to be when I'm only driving 4 miles each way M-F. Plus, I have my 88 LX that I wanted to get back up and running.

Sell that engine and drop in a coyote 5.0 w/ a t56 magnum. That way you could have the 5.0 power and keep the car that you like withouth selling your truck. Then save up more money and turbo charge it! I'd love to see that build..

Just think about what people will say about the old 3 valves then...
If you've owned a 4.6 mustang then you've already been hearing from people for years about how terrible it is. 400+whp naturally aspirated is no big deal. Ask the LSx guys. They've been doing it "cam only" for over a decade now. I can't speak for anyone else but if I was that worried about what other people thought about my choices I wouldn't be into cars. Basing your happiness off what other people think of your choices... bad idea IMO.

I could give a fuck less what people think about me or my car, I'll still be happy.
I wasn't comparing GM vehicles just the 4.6 VS the new 5.0, I thought that's what this thread was about? You seem to have some animosity towards the new 5.0 there chief...
(PS: I did have a 2007 GT and it was an awesome car but I wouldn't buy another one after owning the 5.0)

The idea that 400whp NA is somehow something phenomenal is BS. I brought the GM thing in there because I can.

No animosity whatsoever. I am here to balance you guys out and bring a counterpoint into the discussion.

I believe you and if I were in your shoes, having already spent the money anyway, would not even be thinking about going back to anything else. That would be a true waste.

I've had both cars - a Vortech supercharged '07 GT 4.6L 3V Coupe that ran high 11's in the 1/4 mile & I now own an '11 GT 5.0L Coupe that has trapped over 117 mph in the 1/4 mile recently with just a canned SCT tune, K&N filter (stock airbox & MAF), and FRPP axlebacks. My '11 with just very minor mods feels just as fast as my supercharged '07 ever did and it traps 3 mph higher in the 1/4 mile, so it's not just an illusion.
